Water Crew!

Shed entertainment officer Alex arranged a cruise on the Union Canal for a group of Shed members which was, by all accounts, a great success. No-one fell in, no-one was forced to walk the plank, and no-one was captured by pirates. They only had to endure Alex’s jokes for three hours! Alex’s report on the cruise, along with some photos, follows:

“The Seagull Cruise on Friday with the twelve Pentlands Men’s Shed members was an excellent experience. The volunteer crew gave us a warm welcome. They were very helpful and pleased to help us have a fantastic time. We had a private cruise just for us old yins. We started with coffee and biscuits, and we must thank Ian’s wife for the wonderful tray bakes. The cruise was relaxing and so enjoyable, I must say, at one point, I was sitting outside at the pointy end and I was almost at the level of the canal water, It was fantastic and one of my most enjoyable, peaceful and memorable moments of the day for me. We then stopped for lunch at the Almond Aqueduct built in 1822. Some of the group fed some swans. After that, we had a relaxing cruise back to the docking area. I think everyone found out just how therapeutic a cruise can be. We will definitely book this again. My thanks go to all our crew mates from the Shed.”

A good time was had by all
Are we lost?
There’s always one doing the rabbit ears! Fortunately no-one from the Shed was driving during complex manoeuvres such as turning the boat around.
Tea and biscuits were provided by The Seagull Trust
The local wildlife was keen to ensure the intruders left them in peace at the end of the voyage
I’m just wondering who took this photo!
