Friends of the Pentlands Talk

Members of the Shed enjoyed a talk from Andrew Marsden, Chair of Friends of the Pentlands, who explained his group’s objectives of Conserving, Protecting, and Enhancing the Pentlands to help to maintain this environment for its many users – both visitors and occupants.

Amongst their many activities, the group looks after paths, river banks, and areas of land in many different ways. They also develop wildflower meadows, woodlands, and gardens in a number of areas, and keep the area tidy through litter-picking and general maintenance.

Thanks are due to Andrew, and his colleague Hamish, who came along on a chilly January day to tell us all about their group. If you want to find out more about them, their website (click here) provides a great deal of information.

Pentlands Men’s Shed are working with Friends of the Pentlands in a couple of ways: firstly, by helping to improve a hide for bird-watchers at North Esk Reservoir, and secondly, by repairing and / or making “perches” for visitors to rest on while in the area.
