Hi
Shed Notes 12th November
Well this last week has flown by for me anyway, I hope others have been able to do what they wished this week too, within the limits of all the Covid Regulations of course. I had to go up to Harlaw this week for some more work (Passed Geoff on the way- he was coming back down the road presumably having been for a walk with his dog). At Harlaw it was really disappointing to see all the mess left lying around at the dam spillway and I don’t quite understand it – yes people want to get out and have a party but why do they take the time and trouble to lug up a 45 gallon drum for a firepit, loads of bottles and cans collect firewood by breaking tree branches and then leave all the debris behind to advertise the fact. Surely they could take the rubbish away too instead of leaving it to others who don’t need this aggravation on top of the restrictions we are all under?
I managed to get on to the You Tube video of the coop telling us how to maximise our ‘year of sponsorship’ however it kept buffering and although I got the gist of what they were saying it did not add much to what we know. Allister and Bill get your heads together for an article to C&B News and Konnect would seem to be the best way forward and also a new poster to go up in the local Coops within a 15 mile radius. There should be a list of them coming to us soon. Lyall and I are the designated email contacts having submitted the application. Our website should also feature large so any photos etc. we need to keep up to date. I’ve successfully registered the Skinner coop cards online and specified Pentlands Mens Shed as our preferred charity and it was all very easy. It does only work if you register for the shed - If not the donation is shared between all of the charities sponsored in that period. I’ve also been in touch with our Secretary Ian who had to go into hospital for a quick checkup and I’m glad to report that he is back home and all’s well. He hopes to join us on zoom tomorrow morning as his son is trying to get him into the technology!
I’ve also had a delivery of OSB Sheets this week from Lothian Building Supplies out at Tranent who have donated them free of charge (including delivery) for the Colinton Christmas Nativity scene. I hope to get the figure templates transferred on to them this weekend and then will be looking for volunteers and a plan to assemble things at the back of the shed before taking them to Colinton. Let’s talk about this tomorrow or sometime soon as weather and covid restrictions will hamper whatever we try to do. I’ve already also cut up the tent for canvas but did not have time to do more this week. I have however sent an email to Lothian Building supplies thanking them for their donation and asking them for a catalogue and prices for anything they may be able to supply to the shed in the future.
We may also have another member joining us on Zoom tomorrow. Terry Dolan has successfully negotiated the website and membership form and has joined us. Welcome Terry, a photo for the website would be good if you have not already given one to Iain, however don’t worry if you have not – by the time this Covid is over quite a few of us will have to renew what we look like! Zoom is probably the best picture for the moment!
Cheers for now, stay safe and well and perhaps I’ll see some of you on Zoom tomorrow.
