Hi

Some good news for the Shed! As I previously mentioned, Pentlands Men's Shed has been selected as one of three local good causes to get some funding from the Co-op Local Community Fund. The amount will depend on how many people who shop at the Co-op choose to support Pentlands Men's Shed. Please see the email below which I received, which explains how we should go about encouraging people to support us. If you use social media (Facebook / Twitter), please share the link mentioned below, and ask your friends, relatives and other contacts to support us. To date (Saturday 31 October) we have already raised the grand sum of 18p!

Iain will put something onto the website too, so that you can refer back to it.
Best Regards,

Welcome to the Co-op Local Community Fund

Hello Alexander Skinner,

We’re delighted Pentlands Men's Shed has been selected to take part in the Co-op Local Community Fund. To help you make the most of this funding opportunity, here’s a few things you can do over the next couple of months to get you started.

How the Fund Works
You are one of three causes in your community which Co-op Members can select to support between now and 23 October 2021. The more members who select you and shop with us, the more funds you’ll receive.

Your cause will receive two payments – one in April 2021 and the second in November 2021.

Encourage your supporters to become Co-op Members so they can select you as their cause. They can join online at coop.co.uk/membership or by downloading the Co-op app.
Your Cause Profile Page
Every cause has their own dedicated page on our membership website, so please encourage members to select you as their cause. The page includes information about your cause and the project you’re raising funds for which we have taken from your original application.

Simply copy and paste the link below and share on Facebook & Twitter, encouraging your followers to share this too.

The link to your cause profile page is https://membership.coop.co.uk/causes/45168

The page also shows the amount of money your cause has raised to date, so you can track the amount of money raised during the funding period.
Your Community
Your cause is linked to a community of one or more Co-op food stores or funeral branches.

Business
Store Name
Store Post Code
Store Telephone No.
Funeralcare Sighthill EH11 4SQ 01314 430 938
Food Currie EH14 5LS 01314 492874
Even though you’re linked to local Co-op outlets, money raised through Co-op Membership can be generated anywhere in the UK, as long as a Member is buying selected products or services from the Co-op Group.

All you need to do is share your cause page, so Members can select you as their cause. To find out more about how money is allocated to causes and which products earn rewards, check out our Co-op Membership Terms & Conditions.

Member Pioneers
We have a thousand Member Pioneers across the UK who are connecting communities together. They can put you in touch with like-minded people locally and offer practical advice to help you raise your profile in the community.
Your local Member Pioneer will be in touch over the coming weeks but in the meantime, you can learn more about the role of Member Pioneers by clicking here, coop.co.uk/member-pioneers.

Promotional Guide
To encourage members to select your cause, check out our promotional guide which provides poster templates and banners you can share on social media.

Join the Co-op Communities Facebook Group
By joining our Co-op Communities Facebook Group you can connect with other community-minded people across the UK. The group is for local causes, Member Pioneers and others who wish to work together to make great things happen in their communities.

It’s a great way to share ideas about how you can promote your cause, engage with Co-op Members and share skills.

Co-operate
You may also be interested in joining our online community centre, Co-operate. Adding your group on this platform will help you:
  • Tell people about your group’s impact
  • Promote your activities
  • Find volunteers
  • Highlight your group is a Local Community Fund cause

Live Webinar – Your chance to ask us questions
We’ll be hosting a live webinar at 6pm on Thursday 12 November where you can find out how the fund works in more detail and how you can promote your cause. There’ll also be an opportunity to ask questions on the night but feel free to ask questions in advance here.
We will send a separate email with everything you need to know about joining the webinar next week.

There’s a lot of information to take on board, but don’t worry, our team are here to help you along the way and our local Member Pioneers can offer a helping hand too.

We hope your cause enjoys being involved in the Co-op Local Community Fund and we look forward to developing a great partnership with you over the coming year.

Best wishes,

April Armstrong
