Hi

Shed Notes 29th October
Hello all,
Just after I had written last weeks notes the following email arrived with the good news that the submission Lyall and I put together for Coop Community Funding was successful. I’m not entirely sure how it works yet and it is obviously dependent on getting coop members to ‘vote’ for us throughout the year. More instructions for us are coming but have not arrived yet and when they do I will be looking at volunteers for publicity and other tasks. It would be good if some of you could join in the webinar when we get details of that too. The email is copied below in full. We will not be pulling out and I would like to submit some questions before the webinar both to show interest and try to clarify what we have to do. All help appreciated here please and please indicate if you would like to join the webinar and I’ll keep you informed of time and date when I know it. Lyall has already responded to April thanking her for the good news and If you cannot get the links to work please let me know.

There was a quick visit to the shed this week by three of us to transfer templates, pick up some pallets and exchange tools and goodies. I’ve not heard any more yet from Colinton but I’m hoping that skills in using templates and cutting out are going well with those making reindeer! I’ve been busy getting rid of rubbish from my own shed and house prior to deciding what is coming with us of what is left. I hope that Jim managed to get his roof maintenance completed and the scaffolding down before the winds and rain came!
Allister McKillop received a request looking for someone to repair model yachts – he has circulated it via what’s app and I also seem to remember that one of our early shed members called Alex Tulloch listed Boat Builder as one of his interests. Unfortunately I have no more details for Alex as I do not have the early membership forms just my own notes from the first two meetings. I have not had any information from Stuart Campbell and although Bill has seen Steve Valvona out and about I do not know how well he is and would not want to bother him. However if anyone can help Allister has the contact details for the request.
We are now fixed in tier 3 and are likely to be in that tier for a good wee while yet the way things are going. Zoom meetings on a Friday are therefore the main way of keeping in contact with the group for a get together. However remember that Iain has set up zoom so that we can use it at any time for a chat between individuals or groups of members and the website goes from strength to strength. It will also be used to advertise the coop community fund sponsorship when we get more details of what we can do here and we will also be putting in a link on the Coop website, again when we know how to do it and get the necessary permissions.
Talking about zoom and tomorrow’s meeting I will not be in at the start as we have a house viewing but I hope to get in on it before you all disappear.
In the meantime please all keep safe and well and make the best of whatever situation you are in. I did like the snippet on the TV a couple of nights ago on one of the farming programmes where one Turkey farmer has already scaled down his planned turkey size in anticipation of smaller christmas get togethers. Some people are definitely capable of forward planning and adapting but I hope the turkeys are not feeling too hungry!
Cheers for now
Alister
