Hi

Shed Notes 22nd October

Hello again, I hope all are still keeping safe and well in this ever changing environment. Mary and myself have postponed going up north for a wee while as the natives are getting restless again about too many visitors piling in to the village!
I had two phone calls this week concerning the shed.
The first was from Ian Mcpherson our secretary looking to arrange an AGM and our annual return to the Charity Commissioners. He is going to check with Lyall the Treasurer on the charity submission, they are more relaxed this year regarding getting accounts audited so I’m sure Lyall will sort that out. We’ve decided on a date of 15th January for the AGM which is as late as we can leave it and that gives us time to still have it organised for Zoom as I very much doubt if the shed will be open by then. More information on this will follow
The second was from Lorraine O’Shea re the Colinton Nativity. The committee have met and have decided on a very low key low maintenance display in the park. An artist is making Silhouettes templates of the figures which will be given to us for realising on board. The figures will be painted black by others after we have made them and yet others will affix lighting around the ‘stable which will be two pallets with fixings for the silhouettes and an upright back for a screen and a star on top.
Once I get the templates I’ll be looking for volunteers so those of you making the reindeers be warned - it’s good to get some practice in. Materials will be provided and I’ve asked that it be OSB.
Let me have your comments please on both of these topics. Ian will prepare an AGM agenda over the next few weeks and we will put it on the website. Also have some thoughts on elections of office bearers so that we can plan for this beforehand and work out a way to vote - I'm assuming there will be lots of takers..
What’s app has been busy as usual. I’ve refrained from using the swap shop so far but does anyone want a vintage (home made) dolls house requiring an upgrade as it is 40 years old but still going strong?. I made it at sea when I realised on one trip I was not going to be home until Christmas Eve and that was my peace offering! A chippy's howf on a shp has lots of goodies if you are in the know!
Kenny gave us the good news that we have more time to get our smoke alarms in order as the regulation is postponed for a year - if we act now it may be that we’ll all mange to get things done by the due date.
Ali Mac has been contacted regarding another donation of tools and I’ve contacted the person who is still sorting things out so nothing will happen soon. She will contact me in due course. My visit to the shed did not find the jigsaws I thought we had but Allister Mck knew where they were and confirms there are four. So anyone wishing to borrow those, a belt sander or a mitre saw like Johns but without stand or a bench saw please get in touch with me and we’ll get it sorted. I have put a large steamer trunk in the shed to take any more tools we may get over the next few months as it keeps things more tidy.
That’s it for this week, I hope that everyone is still managing to stay safe and still managing to get out and about even in a limited way. Tomorrow we may know what the new tier system will be and where we are placed in it.

Regards to all
Alister
