Hi

Shed Notes 15th October

Apologies for being even later than usual with a few notes this week. My today has been busy with Surveyors for a home report and photos being taken and then trying to work out why my central heating has stopped working! I think I know why now and that will be a weekend job I think. Then when I started this email it crashed because windows started updating and I could not stop it in time. And I’ve still got to get it onto the website!

After last Friday’s Zoom I joined the SMSA Zoom meeting and it was quite interesting as Jason was most upset that 15% of sheds had reopened in some form or another. While he said that they could only advise and sheds could do what their committees decided it was pretty clear that he was not at all in favour of what was going on in some sheds and I suspect that may be reinforced with the COVID developments this week. However the SMSA have prepared a covid pack for all sheds so that they could make their own risk assessment and ensure that their trustees were happy with what was in train. It was a petty strong warning and I think we are wise to pause in our shed orientated activities for a wee while.

I’ve tried the Amazon Smile ordering a couple of times and it works just the same as Amazon so that’s good. Now looking for capacitors for central heating pumps!

What’s app has been busy this week and I’ve not even had time to get on the website to see the new swap shop. I hope others have managed.

Tomorrow’s zoom topic seems to be on the new rules and regs surrounding the smoke alarms for domestic premises. It does not come in until February but some companies are obviously getting in on the act and sending out flyers for doing this for you – at a price of course. It will be interesting to get a shed consensus on a good way forward and maybe even organise a ‘bulk buy’ for those DIY’ers amongst us.

That’s it for this week, I hope that everyone is still managing to stay safe and still managing to get out and about in a limited way.

Best Regards, stay safe and well
