Hi

Shed notes 17th September

Hello again, I'm sending this one from the far north as I’ve taken advantage of the continuing good weather to stay here a little longer and hopefully come back to an Edinburgh still free from even more restrictions. Has anyone worked out yet what a new method of work outside for the shed could be or is it just getting too difficult to stay within the rules without bending them which I have to say I'm not going to do as I feel there is just too much risk to our families without even looking at the bigger picture. A week in the highlands, albeit with a much smaller population is certainly an instruction in trying to keep safe and healthy. The local Coop in Tain has a Pavement Marshall to keep the schoolchildren in line while they all go for their takeaway lunches and it seems to work quite well. They of course do not have to distance from each other but there did seem to be some big bubbles!
I don’t have much shed news this week. We do have a new member Ronnie joined via the website application form so if this has worked welcome Ronnie and if you send a photo we’ll try and get you into the Rogues (sorry members!) picture gallery so that when we can all eventually meet up we may recognise each other! The Shed of the year award has gone to the Inverclyde Shed but I have not read the full writeup yet as it just came in to me as I was writing this. Tim Green has scheduled another Lothian Group meeting for Friday 9th October 10-12 so I suspect that I will opt for our own zoom/meet if we have one on that day as I was not very impressed with his last one and no feedback to us other than the notes John took for us.. However that does not stop anyone else logging in if they wish. If you do not have the login details let me know and I’ll pass them to you.
I managed a short trip in my borrowed boat today, mine will stay in the garden for this year I'm afraid, so it was mackerel for lunch. Not enough to get the smoker out this time though but tomorrow I’ll be picking our plums to take back – a lovely crop and we just happen to be here at the right time for a change with no wind to blow them off before they were fully ripe and just too cold for the wasps to get stuck in to them so all is not bad!

That’s all for this week,
Regards to all, stay safe and well.
Alister
