Hi

A last minute stand-in by your ex-Chairman tonight if I can remember how to do this. It’s been a pleasure reading about all that is going on rather than trying to organise it then write about it and I’m enjoying the new lease of energy it has given me. However I’ve not tried to recreate my youth by going to Rick Wakeman concerts!! (apologies to those members who are!)
Anyway enough of that, tomorrow morning we are going to hear all about the weather forecasting from Graeme who requires tea and biscuits as his fee so we should manage that ok. Given the sort of weather we have been having this week a day inside is probably a good idea!
Around the shed things are getting tidied up with jobs moving apace. Jim and Jan, the stalwarts of the woodshed are more than halfway to completion (I think) which will give us opportunity when completed to start making the container store into store and dirty (but cleanable) workspace. Work has started under Ali with quite a few helpers on making two kindling store boxes for managing what has proven to be an excellent money earner and will keep all the bagged kindling separate from other stuff for easy access to selling to customers. Stewart, Alistair two sheds, Ali and Mike have been busy maintaining the scout premises with fire door/ boiler surround and radiator shelf repairs and a complete set of new locks for the bench cupboards in the main hall.
All the scrap has been tidied and moved from the scout access to the back area and is now stored in bins which, when full, are small enough to fit in cars to take to scrap. This is also a good money earner and between that and the kindling we have sufficient funds to pay our insurance for the year – so far.
Lyall has the next phase of the barbeque under way, it is now bolted on the paving slabs awaiting internal grills etc, will be ready for summer if the weather forecaster conjures up some good working weather!
John and myself have to finish off the CCTV mast, the CCTV is all working but whilke we were at it we fitted a mains cable for lighting etc should it be needed in the future and that still requires the post fuse box and connection to the shed supply which will be done by the scout Leader grant when we are ready.
I’m sure that there is much more going on as well, mud kitchens seem to come and go and there is a waiting list for bens seat repairs when we get the wood but that’s a wee update from my perspective at the moment. Remember please come along even if you can only spare a few minutes for a cup of tea, shake off all of those covid blues and get back to the banter which is still more or less under control.
Cheers for now. Best regards to all
Alister

Best Regards,
