Hi
Another short note tonight as I started one of those 5 minute jobs this morning to put a rail up in our walk in cupboard. It’s now time to stop for the day and the rail is still not fitted but there is now a light, re-arranged shelves and goodness knows what else done. Mary is feeling better!!
A huge thank you to those who helped out at the open week, over £500.00 has been collected not including sales ordered but not collected or paid for yet. The kindling is a great success and is a fantastic way to get more people involved and feel they are doing something useful so we will try and keep that going, probably throughout the year as we recycle offcuts etc and that will allow us to build a stockpile for the next winter. I was disappointed that some more of our not so regular members did not manage to make an appearance during the open week just to see how we are getting on, the idea of holding it for a week rather than one day only was to try and accommodate our different schedules. It was nice to see Geoff come for a look and I was talking to Stewart our ex chairman yesterday at the health centre and he says he will come back to see how we are getting on when he is able, he was unable to come on the open days but knew about them and what we are up to!.
As some of you will have seen from What’s App Douglas, Yasine and Findlay are coming back to the shed tomorrow for a chat and we will get an update on their project trying to win funds for our shed from them. They are also doing a marathon run in Inverleith Park on Saturday 9am and already have £250.00 in sponsorship for us from this. There is a link on the justgiving site. The finals award ceremony is at Forresters in the evening of the 15th December and they are in the final. I understand that two of us will be invited. We will try and find out more tomorrow and possibly decide who will go. Much as I'd like to be considered I’m ruling myself out as, if all goes to plan I will be departing for a cold and possibly snowy north on the 10th for at least a week with a heavy trailer with 15 pallets, firewood and an outboard motor!.
I had two more bags of sand/gravel delivered to the shed today so that our slabbers have no excuse for not keeping going! Fantastic work Jim and Jan, it would not do to run out of supplies for you.
Another date for your diary is that next Friday, 9th there will be a talk on The Maggie Centres by Gail, Iain’s Wife so a good attendance that morning would be great too.
Regards to all
Alister
