Hi

A short note tonight and a big thank you to all those helping out on the Open Week and for those over the next few days doing the same. The Saturday at Balerno Coop started it all off with interest and donations which carried on into the Monday and Stewart reminded me today that we still have a couple of outstanding lifts to do on that front probably in the New Year. Not sure just how much has gone into the sale box yet but I took £50.00 out today and transferred it to Lyall using my card on the machine we now have for the shed so even a coffee can now be paid for by cash as long as we remember to charge up the machine! This does not happen when everything is switched off! I took a separate charger over today and it is now fully charged so we’ll check tomorrow morning if it is holding charge. I’m sure Rab said that the display and PC he is using needs to be on because the battery is not holding charge so we suspect we may have tried to charge the PC from the cash machine last night!
We now have more display boards and a proper carrying case for them and our existing boards courtesy of the dog training team. I did a wee job for them today and this appeared as it was surplus to their requirements as they don’t go on tour any more.
I did not realise that I had the same birthday date as Billy Connolly until Ron and myself were listening to the radio this morning, appropriate banter for the men’s shed! Now I’m going to relax and have a wee practice for my Birthday bash on Sunday!.
If you have not been for a while and need to have a wee visit to get into the swing of things again, or Friday’s don’t work any more, the shed will still be open on Saturday and Monday before we get back to normal Friday morning and Monday morning as things stand at present. The visit from Geoff on Tuesday was great and John was able to show him around all the work we did on the shed more or less to his designs. Like Geoff come to one of the remaining open week days to say hello and let us know what the score is, we’re nothing if not flexible and have managed to get two more interested people this week. Not sure if Allan and Nigel are on the books yet but welcome if you are.! We’re still trying to work out Allan’s method of transporting OSB as we now have enough quality stuff to fill in the underside of the shed once we get it all cut to size, primed and painted. Surely more than one roof rack load or do you have a pickup?!
Regards to all
Alister
