Hi
It’s the second change of clothes today so time to stay inside and maybe get the notes away a bit earlier! Today I went to collect some more items from a house in Balerno where we got the workbench from and have come back with a pneumatic tyred trolley for the shed and a Karcher pressure washer both in working order and an electric chainsaw which is not. It may be scrap but I’ll have a look after all this months activities settle down! Also two, still in wrapping IKEA FOTO pendant lights 38cm aluminium. No good for the shed but open to offers or they will go in our sale of additional items.
Our millenium trees are now planted between the shed and the roadside rail, They should be well watered in now! We’ll need to keep an eye on them because there are no supports or shielding around them but they did come with plastic spirals which are in the shed should we need to put them on.
Monday at the shed continued with tidying up, refurbishing a seat and some sensory boards Stewart had made for Currie Nursery. Some more slabs were collected and I think we now have enough to finish the front – well done to Jim and Jan for this massive effort aided and abetted by others from time to time. The ramp is now also in place, one banister and side rails are secured and the other may be done tomorrow or most likely during the open week rather than tomorrow if the weather continues like today.
After the Shed meeting tomorrow we have our Shed Lunch at the Riccarton Arms. I’m sure Ian can squeeze a few more in if there more wishing to come and to date I think around 15 is the number attending.
We have a rota for Saturday at Scotmid in Balerno but if anyone wishes to turn up for a bit it will be from 10-3 with two members at any one time. It is publicity only but will help to advertise our open week for the Shed and be a chance to try out our new Banner.
The Scouts are having a jumble sale on the Saturday in the scout hall so expect a lot of jumble to be in the place tomorrow and Val and Graham have asked if anyone can help with transport on Saturday night/Sunday morning to move all unwanted stuff to charities or recycling. It would be much appreciated and get rid of unwanted stuff before Monday when the hall is in use again. I’ve said some of us will be tied up at Balerno on Saturday but I’d be free Saturday evening/Sunday and I’d ask by this notes and at the shed tomorrow if anyone else could help if needed. Also gives us a chance to help with the recycling!
And then we are in to our open week, don’t know really what to expect. Iain has put a large notice on our web home page for all to see and we can refer to the website when meeting people. Iain has started taking a rota of names so we can plan sensible manning and probably do a few jobs at the same time. John may have to make more christmas trees having sold a lot of what he made already by showing them to the meeting place, well done John! Stewart, have you made any more reindeer? I think we promised one to one of the ladies at the Canalside venue. I’ll have to get going and make some more christmas trees and maybe a couple more snowmen now that I have the bit for my lathe but so far I’ve just not had time. Next Monday we will be sorting out the shed and inside room with displays and stuff for sale during open week so it may be good to get a run through with the Meeting Place again to see if we have it right. I was also going to make a flyer to put up inside the hall so that those using the Hall through the week will know what’s going on.
Meantime please stay safe, come to the shed when you can and always let us know what is going on either via what’s app or the website. If you have not been for a while and need to have a wee visit to get into the swing of things again, or Friday’s don’t work any more, come to one of the open week days to say hello and let us know what the score is, we’re nothing if not flexible!
Regards to all
