Hi
After a nice week away up in the calm oasis of Portmahomack it’s back to the mixed wet, windy and warm weather of Edinburgh. It’s been a busy week at the shed too with Jim and Jan striving to get the paving done before open day and Rab and Alister getting in their way while they figure out how to assemble and fix the ramp. That is going well and tomorrow we may finish fixing it in place plus any extensions and corners to stop people falling off. An additional rail has been found so I’m hopeful it will be complete for open week.
For those coming tomorrow and going to the shed lunch at the Riccarton Arms please take a £5.00 deposit for Ian so that he can confirm our booking and numbers. If for any reason you cannot come to shed tomorrow but are going to the lunch please get in touch with Ian so that he can confirm numbers. You can use the reply on this email to do this if necessary and Iain will pass details to the other Ian!!
Hugh will be taking round trees for planting tomorrow so if you have a spare spade take it with you please and help with getting those in the ground. Full instructions are/will be provided.
Iain will be taking names for a rota for our Scotmid day at Balerno on Saturday 19th November so that we can plan sensible manning. We are suggesting a maximum of two hours each with overlap of at least one person, eg I could take stuff over in the morning do and hour and go away coming back in the afternoon to do another hour, wrap up and take stuff away. All for discussion tomorrow and if you are not there tomorrow but would like to help on 19th just let Iain know via the reply to this notes as above for the lunch..
Similarly for our open week we need to plan attendance covering each day. We can also plan jobs that have to be done so that if there are not many callers we can get on and do things which can be left if people turn up. I have a few jobs that require willing labour and the ability to hammer in a few nails, instruction will be given if required!
And finally (for the moment) Allister Mckillop has provisionally accepted an invitation for a stall at the Pentlands Community Hub on Lanark Road. Hugh, Stewart and Myself did this a few months ago and it was good, we actually sold a few things. This will be on 6th February 2023 so put it in your diary now so we try and do a wee bit of forward planning. It’s my wife’s birthday that day so I may or may not be available!
The part for my lathe has been retrieved from the green wheelie bin and fitted. Due to all the other things going on I have not been able to turn any more items yet but should get started on that once the ramp is done.
Meantime please stay safe, come to the shed when you can and always let us know what is going on either via what’s app or the website.
Regards to all
Alister
