Hi
Time is flying by but I think great progress is being made at the shed. Not sure about a November opening though but we’ll see.
Allister, Stewart and myself will not be there tomorrow as we are going to the charity open event at 26 Canalside. Keith has details of where it is and road closures. If any of you wish to come after the shed it is open from 10 -1600 but you will need to approach from the canal side of the Wester Hailes Centre as part of Clovenstone Road is closed both ways for roadworks. Unless of course you are walking or cycling!
Unfortunately this also means that we will miss the wellbeing talk tomorrow but we can get an update from you next week. Apologies for the double booking Iain, hope it goes well.
On Friday last we had a visit from three exceptionally nice lads from Forresters High School who are going to use us as their theme in a schools competition. All I can say is that these lads seem to enjoy school much more than a few of us oldies did and whether they win or not I’m sure they will do us proud. Monday was a busy day with more slabbing, a start of making up firewood bundles (I think Alastair has sold some already?) and I’ve taken more to the charity do to gauge interest. We need to be careful however and properly fill the bags as I had to top up quite a few to make them look equal amounts. No doubt we’ll get feedback but I’d like it to be positive with a request for more. It’s clear from what we have done already that lots of pallets will be needed if this takes off but they can be any size as long as they are untreated and lightweight ones are also ideal. Jack can you still see ones from your window?
John and Jan have also given me prototypes of suggested christmas ornaments to take tomorrow and Stewart is also on the case as am I with some wood turnings and coasters/wood slabs. I’m also taking the remainder of last years christmas trees to see if there is interest in those too. We can do the same for our own open day?
We now have four display boards on which to mount displays courtesy of old aluminium frames which Lyall took to the shed and I was able to refurbish with board from Stewart and aluminium angle offcuts from my son. They will be used tomorrow with A4 pages showing our work to date for the community – and it is really surprising just how much we have done!
Today Stewart and myself went and got some more slabs for the shed patio, they are various sizes and thicknesses but hopefully all are useable so that we can square at least the front off. I’m looking for a piece of 3” equal angle about 3’ long (50-75mm x 1m) or thereabouts to make a bracket to rest the ramp on at the top of the steps. An unequal angle of 2" and 3" would probably also work. This will be fixed to the brickwork at the top of the steps to rest the ramp on and so far the scrap has not yielded anything useful in that regard!
Now it’s time to get the car loaded for the morning as the three musketeers are going to rendevous at the shed at 9am!.

Regards to all, take care
