Hi

It was nice to read the notes last week instead of having to write them, thanks Stewart and for anyone else fancying to take a turn please feel free to do so.
I had a great holiday up north catching up on gardening, fishing and enjoying the sunshine and now back in Currie to catch up on things here.
First of all, and if all goes to plan, our container will be coming a week today, no more details yet but tomorrow I’ll be asking for a couple of volunteers to do roadside duties either morning or afternoon depending on when the delivery will be made. Prices for delivery have been agreed and will be paid for outside shed funds although the transaction may go through the shed account. Lyall, see a separate email to yourself for a fall back position in case Iceland cannot pay the haulier directly. Because the shed is a charity we have to be transparent regarding funding so I want to keep as much of the paperwork outside of Members or Trustees whilst still getting the benefits of donations direct to the shed.
Regarding the shed I’ve had yet more phone calls from a London number regarding ‘placing’ people in our shed. It seems there is now an agency/charity trying to help people find interests but it is certainly not something done locally for the community although the people wishing to join appear to be local. Latest one was for a partially sighted person and I was able to advise on that as I am a guide for a Visually impaired ski club and have been for many years. I said that the person should apply or come on a Friday and meet up and would then be assessed both by us and himself as to whether it is suitable as an ongoing pursuit. I don’t know if this is where other member interest is also coming from. Perhaps we’ll see and find out more from whoever comes on Friday as there should be two or three new members coming, some of whom have already registered. As I've not met you yet either please make yourself known and together we'll work out how to get and keep more members!!
That also set me thinking where is this interest coming from and at least one came via the Men’s shed Organisation but others kept mentioning facebook. This morning I typed in facebook and mens shed (I am not on facebook) and lo and behold up comes JCB Men’s Shed in Currie 2019 plus a whole lot of other information which I could not get into without registering for facebook which I’m not going to do. So if anyone has knowledge of this, who set it up and more importantly who can delete it all can they please do so and let myself and Iain know what has been done. If anyone has information on this but not ownership can they please pass it on to Iain to see what we can do about keeping our digital image up to date and relevant.
I don’t know what has been agreed as activities for this Friday so I’ll just come along and have a cup of tea and play it by ear. I’ll get names and contact details for any Thursday helpers then too.
That’s it for now, see some of you tomorrow.
Best Regards
Alister
