Hi

I’m passing a on a request from a PHD student researching approaches to well-being in case you are interested in participating. If you are, please contact the student directly - her details are on the poster below.
My name is Maya and I am a PhD student at the university of Strathclyde. I am researching Thriving City Initiatives such as Thrive Edinburgh and within this my focus is on experiences of loneliness and social isolation in older people (65+). This demographic is proving a little difficult to reach and I was wondering if there was any way Men's Sheds would have any interest in supporting this project by putting up my poster and/or sharing it on its media so I can reach people who otherwise may not get the chance to see my poster in community centres, places of worship etc.
Alternatively, any advice on how to reach this population in Edinburgh would be hugely appreciated. The research involves photovoice, a participatory method where participants take photos that represent their experiences. It means it also provides the participants with opportunity to socialise with others and present their work to the community. Another possibility would be hosting a photovoice class as a one off to let people see what it involves and if they want to get involved.
I’ve attached the poster to this email.
