Hi

Evening all.

CURRIE PRIMARY SCHOOL ATRIUM
You may have seen the WhatsApp discussion about Currie Primary School gardening. If you are free on Wednesdays at 1.45 p.m. and would like to help, please come along to help tidy up and refresh the garden in the Atrium. This is likely to take several weeks, so don't worry if you can't manage every week. We are preparing to weed-kill some of the gravelled areas in the Atrium and Stewart, Lyall and others are getting the materials together, but if you have any old/spare spray bottles, please bring them to the Shed asap so we can use them for weed-killer application. Many thanks to Alistair 2 Sheds and Lyall for being the first volunteers.

COMPUTER GROUP
Martin has suggested that the computer group may restart off there is interest in doing something interesting indoors. Please talk to Martin if this is something you would like to do. As the weather is getting wintry, this is an ideal time to re-start this group.

SCRAP INCOME
Lyall and I took some of the scrap metal to Daltons on Monday and raised £110. That total included money for brass and copper, so any future trips now will not be as lucrative. Nevertheless, it's income (equivalent to 55 bags of kindling) so not to be sniffed at!!!

COLINTON PRIMARY SCHOOL NURSERY
Dave McLuckie and I took the final planter to the school on Wednesday morning and assembled it on site as it was so big!!! You will (hopefully) have seen a photo of it. I am getting other photos to put on the website, but won't get them till next Tuesday.

NATIVITY SCENE
John and Jan assembled the Nativity Scene at the St Cuthbert's Episcopal Church in Colinton this week.

CUTTING A BOTTLE IN TWO
Earlier in the week there was a discussion about cutting bottles so I will bring my Dremel multitool and some diamond cutting wheels and we can cut some bottles. Anyone else is welcome to bring a bottle or two!!!

ADDITIONAL WOOD STORE
Jim and Jan are valiantly making good progress on the extension to the wood store. The main floor foundations are now complete and there are only a few other major tasks to complete before it's finished. Well done to these stalwarts of the Shed.

SHED CHRISTMAS LUNCH
In case you all forgot, the Riccarton Inn has been booked for our Christmas lunch. We decided to hold in January 2024 to give the Ricci a little boost in income at a traditionally quiet time of the year, so pencil in the 19th January at 3.30 p.m. for our lunch. (Christmas sweaters are not obligatory).

LIVINGSTON MEN'S SHED
David Piper, their chairman has thanked us for our donations and suggested we could undertake "joint shed projects" at some point in the future. We have responded that in principle it's a good idea, but right now we have a backlog of work that we need to clear first before we consider such a suggestion. Basically, "never say never". They also have offered us the use of a paint spray gun and compressor to our shedders.

NATIONAL TRUST FOR SCOTLAND
We are in a conversation with them regarding pallets they have kept aside for us. They are currently unable to deliver them so we are trying to arrange for the Shed to collect them from their premises at the top of Cultins Road, Sighthill. (Might even be able to saw them into pieces and put them in the back of a car).

That's about it for this week...

Keep well everyone
Best Regards,

Rab Mason
