Hi

Men's Shed Christmas Dinner
Make a date in your diary for the 19th January 2024. It's our Shed's Christmas dinner, being held once again at the Riccarton inn. Further details nearer the time, but we expect to be eating around 2 p.m. The reason we're having it then, is to give some post-Christmas cheer/trade to an otherwise flat January (apart from Burns Night of course).

Pallets
We received a delivery of about 10 pallets on Tuesday morning from a local tradesman who says he will continue to deliver them on a continuous basis. He would otherwise have to burn them or be charged for disposal, so it's a win/win situation for him and the Shed.

Wood Store Roof
We made excellent progress this week and the roof is now covered with OSB boards, underneath which is the insulation that has been clogging up the shed and the store!! Our 'expert' roofer Ali Skinner has taken a trip up north so work has stopped in the meantime. The guttering on the north side of the roof has been fitted, and the down pipe just needs to be fixed properly to the container. The fascia on the south side of the roof is temporary and will be replaced in due course once we have the metal sheeting in place. The OSB boards have been covered with polythene sheeting to protect them from the rain and will eventually be covered by the metal sheeting which is on our patio under the tarpaulin. Thanks to Ali and John Wilson for their sterling efforts and to demented Alli for supplying the drinks and biscuits.

Wood Donation
Stuart Still and Jan Kosinski made a trip to the airport and brought back a load of timber which will no doubt come in handy.

Livingston Shed - Tool Inventory
We would like to record the tools we have set aside for the Livingston Shed so we can at least give them a list of what we have to offer, so I am looking for volunteers to help Iain Miller with that task tomorrow.

LOTHIAN MEN'S SHED NETWORK MEETING
Tim Green from the SMSA has informed us that Corstophine Men's Shed are hosting the next meeting of the Lothians Men's Shed Network at their shed at 5 Kirk Loan Corstorphine EH12 7HD on Thursday 31st August 1300hrs. I'll attend as chairman, and if there is anything you want me to raise with them, please let me know asap. (I'm still looking for a buddy to come with me).
Wood Lathe Donation
A Currie resident has kindly offered a wood lathe for the Shed. Murray Sinclair is going to accompany Iain Miller tomorrow morning to look it over and decide if it's worth accepting. There's also some other tools, nails etc.

Bo'ness Railway Outing
I haven't forgotten about this, and if anyone is interested in going, please let me know tomorrow.

That's it for today, so I hope everyone is keeping OK and I hope to see you all tomorrow.

Best Regards,

Rab Mason
