Hi

Evening everyone, a fair bit of news/info this week...

AWAYDAYS
Does anyone fancy a trip to Bo'ness and Kinneil Railway. Let me know on Friday. We would have to go in car/s as the bus service from Edinburgh doesn't go anywhere near the railway line.
I can take up to 4 passengers. Senior fares are £12 (Stewart, as you are a child you can get on for £7). Here's the link if you're interested: https://www.bkrailway.co.uk/ They do 3 steam trains a day every 2 hours starting at 1030. Any other suggestions for trips gratefully received.

DELL DIRECTORY AND OTHERS SIMILAR TO IT.
I've noticed that if an organisation is "Not for Profit' they can have an advert of up to 75 words for free in the monthly edition. There's probably the equivalent over in Balerno and Currie too. Do you all think it's worthwhile putting an advert in it to hopefully recruit more members?

LIVINGSTON SHEDDERS VISIT
I think the visit went well last Friday and on Monday we created a 'bin' of surplus kit which they will be invited to look over with a view of taking away those bits they need. Some of us have been back at the shed today to keep the momentum going.

KEY REGISTER
We now have a key register on the website. It should be visible in the next few days.

BUSINESS CARDS
I've made a small stock of business cards for members' use. You can hand them out to various interested parties as and when required. I'll leave them in the shed on Friday. Feel free to take some.

SCRAP BAYS
We have nearly finished the construction of the bays at the trees between the shed and the Scout Hall. All we need to do is drive some angle iron down through the pallets to ensure their stability by attaching screws/bolts so they don't wobble. We can now segregate the scrap much easier this way.

SHED TOOLS
If any shedder wants to take away a tool, please do so. We have plenty of tools (haven't we Stewart???!!). Just as long as you let one of the trustees know you are taking it away for good, there's not a problem. The same goes for drill bits, screwdrivers etc.

LIDL/PARKSIDE TOOLS
Jim Floyd will (hopefully, if he remembers!!!) bring in some of his LIDL sourced tools for us to have a look at with a view of perhaps buying a set for shed use.

SCRAP METAL
Lyall and I took a small load of scrap metal to Daltons today and got £46 for it. Not a bad effort for a few hours of sorting the bits and bobs we have recently accumulated. As Tescos say 'Every little helps!!'

THE MAN SHED SHOW AT THE EDINBURGH FRINGE AND ALI SKINNER'S SENDING OFF
The Edinburgh Fringe run at Gilded Balloon marks the world premiere of the show. The show previews on the 3rd and 4th August and continues until Monday 28th August (with the exception of Mon 14th and Mon 21st August).
Tickets for the 60-minute show are available from https://edinburghfestival.datathistle.com/event/2107449-man-shed/14903-gilded-balloon-teviot-edinburgh/
Inspired by the work of the Scottish Men's Sheds Association, Man Shed is a one-man theatre piece which explores the joy of sheds, the pain of loss and the comfort of friendship.
(Themes of loss, grief, love and friendship. Not suitable for babies. Contains distressing or potentially triggering themes).

How about tying this show in with Ali Skinner's appreciation meal at the Riccarton Inn. The show starts at 12:40 each day and runs for an hour. We can then get back to the Ricci Inn for a late afternoon lunch and give Alister a proper send-off.

KINDLING
And finally, for those of you who don't feel up to helping with shed projects, we have some pre-cut kindling that needs to be bagged.

That's all for this week, so keep well and I hope to see you tomorrow.

Best Regards,

Rab Mason
