Hi
Iain and myself had a nice walk up in the Pentlands today to Dulverton Bird Hide above Carlops to start fitting openers/closures and also a latch to keep the door closed when they are inside. This is for to the Friends of the Pentlands for whom we will also renew some perches when they supply the timber. All went well, prototype fitted and left so we’ll complete the job when we get the rest of the materials required. That was the nice bit of the day, it was not so nice to hear of the fire at the Armadale Men’s Shed which seems to have been very serious so in due course we’ll need to find out from that whether there are any lessons to be learnt for ourselves.
Last Monday there were various activities going on. Jim and Alastair are busy on a rabbit hutch designed from one of the boxes we had delivered, That’s all I know of as Stewart and myself disappeared to sus out the other boxes available at Broxburn. We dismantled and loaded three into the donor’s large pickup and then in the afternoon unloaded them at the shed. Tuesday was back at Broxburn loading the trailer with the remaining five which were in the warehouse. More will be coming to there in due course. We dropped one of at Nether Currie Primary as a sample of how we could solve their window/pupil injury problem without breaking the school bank and they want four more suitably modified as planters/ window and head protectors!. The PTA work party is going to do any painting/lining and planting - this contract is supply only ready for the kids coming back into school after the holidays.! Stewart will show what is required, it’s very simple and I would hope on Friday/Monday we could get them done and take them to the school so that I can get my trailer back! The one we left is going to be used as an outside toy box. They like the idea of a sentry type box as well John in due course and want two more seat planters of the type Jim made before. Needless to say I did not get on with the shed skirting with all of that going on but some of the components for the permanent but removeable skirting are now ready for assembly. Apply to Ali for a job nailing and painting them when you feel up to it.
Bill if I'm reading the What's app correctly I think you need to give the carvers an exercise in proof reading and template review before gouging!! It’s a good job we are not using expensive wood or it would be getting thinner all the time! In my good old days when the master for maps was made on a copper plate they got really annoyed when you noticed a mistake and they had to beat out the copper and re-engrave it. Unfortunately I was not very good at proof reading my own work!
Allister can you update us via what’s app or the shed meeting tomorrow on Scott’s health we miss him!!
I hope to see some of you tomorrow, take care and enjoy the increasing sunshine!

Best regards
Alister
