Hi
I’ve had a busy week since last shed notes so looking forward to a quiet morning at the shed tomorrow. Last Friday those of us at the shed examined with envy Iain’s new electric car and then enjoyed a very informative first aid refresher which I think boosted everyone’s confidence that we could do something to help should an accident happen. Given the very sad happening at Leith Docks this week it’s a very timely reminder that the unexpected does happen and we always need to be aware of what we are doing for ourselves and with others. On Monday there were various activities going on. Jim has finished installation of the woodworking vice on the inside bench. Ali finally positioned the permanent corner supports below the shed and started making ready the skirting boards for going round it. Huge nailing and painting exercise coming up in which many can get involved and it can start asap.
There is a large crate in the store and it’s not staying there in its present state but is an example of what could be available if we have a use for them. Discussion on Friday to confirm if we want more, what for and where to store if we do have plans. No plans, no boxes! There is no room for 'maybe useful' with this size of item. They could be broken down but although quality plywood in the main it has limited uses and a lot of work stripping down.
Last week I reported the scaffolding for my solar panel installation at the house was up. Yesterday the solar people came and did the full installation inside and out and today the same scaffolding crew came and took it all down again so I’m really chuffed at the co-ordination and efficiency of the whole exercise although it was touch and go putting the panels up and they did wait until the wind had lessened after trying the first one! The added bonus is that it all seems to be working as it should though I’ve yet to get the manuals etc. so I can play with it myself and do a bit of 'tweaking'.!
Finally a date for your diary, and I’m sure Iain will put it on the website in due course if he has not done so already is a wee ‘get together’ at Currie Primary on Friday 5th May so that they can show their appreciation for our outstanding work. We’ll need to have a quick inspection to make sure everything is up to scratch before then and I'll give more details when I get them.
That’s it for this week, I hope that Scott’s health is improving, that the rest of you are well and enjoying the good weather days when they appear. I look forward to seeing some of you again tomorrow.
Best regards
Alister
