Hi
First time I've used Iain's nice new header, it came in automatically iain, well done!
Having had an excellent time up north catching up on lots of chores and having some nice meals out in nice weather but missing out on the Northern Lights because we decided it was not going to be worth waiting up (spectacular mistake and they started at 930pm!) we decided to come down from the north before the real snow set in so was able to go to the shed on Monday and do a wee catch up.
Iain has filled you in on all the goings on in my absence and if you have not yet filled in your questionnaire and are going to do so please get it to us so that we can make a final appraisal of what/how we are doing in the shed.
It has been a busy week on my return, as with Iain both on the home front and at the shed. I’ve got to clear the area around the house to get scaffolding up for installation of my solar panels so have finally moved all the stuff from our flitting which was around the outside wall at the back garden and the access side of the house. Still to clear the loft space (which of course was never going to have anything in it) and make a pull through from outside to the fuse box so that the cabling goes where I want it to. Scaffolders coming next Wednesday!!
On the shed front Iain was offered paving blocks which looked to be excellent quality and indeed they are. (Left over from the new paved area at Meadowbank stadium). The source was just down from my house so as I had to get the trailer organised for tomorrow at the shed I arranged to pick them up this morning with some help from other shedders. The pickup was so efficient, thanks to a very active and fit Julie that the trailer was half loaded by the time Stewart arrived (early!) and fully loaded and away to the shed before Ron, Gavin, Alex and Iain arrived!. However thanks to the what’s app notice Stewart sent on our departure to the shed Alex and Ron were able to help with the unloading and Iain and Gavin enjoyed the cup of tea with the rest of us after the work was done!
Before we left we put some scrap into the trailer and hopefully will get it all loaded up tomorrow so that we can get the place tidied up a bit. I won’t be taking non-ferrous stuff at this stage because that goes to a separate part of the yard and will fit in the car and should be in the store anyway but I think it will take some time just to tidy up because it has become a bit of a dumping ground instead of being sorted. I’ve also got a carload of scrap from the house to add to the trailer tomorrow and will need to remember to put the net cover for the trailer in too. Of course we could be covered in snow by tomorrow morning so as usual we will take things as they are and be flexible!
I don’t think I have any more for this week, I hope that you are all well and managing to get out and about even though it does seem we are back to winter weather at the moment. I have just last night booked a trip to Harrogate in May (Not in the same league as Jack and John!) to go to an exhibition and conference on electric cars and other things solar as I feel I still don’t know enough about the cars to get one which will work for going up and down the A9 plus towing trailer or boat in all weathers reliably and best to get all the salesmen in one place!! Yes Mary is coming too, it’s not only paint colour that has to be decided by the other half and we are going by train so I won't be tempted to do a trade in there and then!!
Regards to all,
Take care
