Hi

Alister is away this week so I am sending out the weekly update on his behalf. I hope you have enjoyed the fantastic weather over last weekend and the early part of the week: I had my regular sail at St Mary's Loch on Sunday and was very glad that I remembered to put on sun-screen. As a reluctant gardener, I can only guess that the "real" gardeners were grateful for the rain later in the week, if not for the thunder and lightning.

Progress has continued with the Shed, with some more slabs having been put in place by John and Alastair 2-Sheds. The path is looking good, and it is great to see the premises taking shape, even at this basic level. As I write, we are awaiting a delivery of plywood for the new floor, ready for work to re-start on the interior. Material supply is going to be an ongoing challenge for us however with our ingenuity and scavenging skills, I'm sure we will succeed!

Last Friday also saw some tidying up of the ground behind the Scout Hut, with Stewart supervising a sometimes smoky bonfire of old tree cuttings, unusable pallets, and a rotten railway sleeper that was donated. Apologies were made to the neighbours who objected to the smoke. Maybe we need to get a bit more selective about what we accept from people!

We had a visitor at the Shed last week - a youthful 90 year-old potential new member. While we are not really open for business, we won't turn anyone away if they are prepared to accept that we are not doing a lot apart from working on the premises.

One further piece of good news is that we have been granted a defibrillator for installation in our around the Shed - probably in the Scout hut. There is some work to be done on making a box for it, but that is for future agreement in terms of what the box should look like and where it is to be sited. Well done Alister for making the successful application.

I think Alister is due back next week so I will sign of for now, and hand the newsletter baton back to the maestro for future weeks. Stay safe!
Best Regards,
