Hi

Hello all,
I’m starting this before a coop zoom meeting which I have just got a link to. I’ve emailed some of you in the hope that you can join but if anything interesting comes out of it I’ll add it in to these notes for all to see.
Work on the Portacabin continues, John finished the ventilation ducts in the outer wall on Wednesday, Stewart and Jim aligned and levelled the ‘front entrance’ ready for slabbing. I laid the rest of the drainage pipe round the back and to the far side and on Friday we will try and reposition the tarpaulins on the roof and secure them properly for a while while we get the inside sprayed and then start on the interior work prior to roof work continuing. I think materials supplies are going to be a continuing and expensive problem throughout our renovation so the challenge will be not only to build it but build it within budget. It will be possible but I tnhinkk we’ll have to search around and then pounce as any quotes are only valid for 24hrs if someone has something in stock! MKM have sent us a voucher for £50 if we spend £500.! That may be the best offer we get but currently they are awaiting stock of what we need first and even that offer is time dated!
Those of you who view what’s app will have discovered that we have found a new way of acquiring slabs – go to the wrong house! No longer is it ok to say it is the house with the skip in front of it – there are so many houses like that in the streets just now! However all worked out ok and we were allowed to keep the ‘additional’ slabs we had acquired which is just as well because Ron spent the best part of an hour cleaning them up! On Wednesday I went to pick up some tools and the daughter (who does not live there) had given me the wrong number in the street so when I received blank looks I was prepared to say ‘sorry’, left and resorted to phoning to check only to find that number 31 should have been 41, however it was worth it as we now have a good portable power saw and heavy duty power hammer drill out of it. Hammer drill needs a chuck but I think I have one of them somewhere.
Well we had the Zoom meeting, Stewart and Myself managed to get in. Iain and Lyall said that they were otherwise occupied and I haven’t heard from any others. It was a general chat with Lorraine the coop pioneer, the manager from Colinton (Adam), Lorraine’s ‘Boss’ Steve Ritchie and a representative from SHRUB which is another recycling coop in Edinburgh. Lorraine has promised to come and see how we are getting on with the Portacabin at some time, complete with biscuits of course!
That’s it for now, hopefully I’ll see some of you tomorrow but if not make the most of this great weather, and whatever you are doing keep safe and well so that you continue to enjoy it. I hope the weather lasts for another couple of weeks for my holiday and that Allistair Mckenzie and Geoff have not used up all of it with theirs! If my information is correct Geoff will have had no excuses for not getting on with the 'holiday' painting!
Regards to all
Alister
