Hi

Hello all,
Thanks to all who attended the AGM last Friday, even the weather was kind and allowed us to have it outside and socially distant. I think the meeting went well and we now have two additional Trustees John and Iain to add to the ‘management team’. To be fully compliant there are a few more small things we should do, we need a register of Trustees (this is in hand) and we need a register of attendance of any members who come to the shed and when. We sort of do this at present but do need to be a bit more formal on this aspect of the record keeping, currently for COVID tracing but in the longer term also for our insurance when we get it in force. Basically we require a sign in and sign out book which will also be useful for Iain calculating the work hours on the portacabin refurbishment because remember the grant monies have to be shown to be leveraged by other sources of funding and documented work hours count towards this.
Work on the Portacabin continues, Geoff is on holiday so the remainder of the shed has been cleaned ready for spraying but we will not do that before we get the vents installed. Iain has got this well underway and put a few more in yesterday. Today Jim and Stewart laid some slabs over the perforated drain pipe at the entrance to the shed area. Despite the heavy rain there was no drainage issues so all is good and if we get the slabs laid evenly, even temporarily, this gives us safer access to the work.
We still have heard no more from Robertsons re helping with materials, which could become increasingly important if the news of material shortages and price hikes is to believed. I’m hopeful the silence is due to trades holidays but we’ll see over the next week or so and make plans accordingly.
Tomorrow, at the shed, according to Whats App, more slabs are being collected and delivered. Hopefully some more will be laid and also if the weather holds out Iain will continue with the vents. I’ve managed to cut another 100 ready for use!
There may be another Coop zoom meeting in the near future. Lorraine has emailed me and I’ve said that once they fix a time and date I will circulate members so that any who are free and wish to join in can do so.
Jim may be taking leave of absence for a wee while if he gets back to cruising as planned – thought for you Jim if you run out of exotic topics – a talk on Men’s Sheds with an interactive zoom?!!!
That’s it for now, hopefully I’ll see some of you tomorrow but if not enjoy whatever you are doing and please stay as safe as possible.
Regards to all
Alister
