Hi
Back to Thursday as normal and judging by the weather on my trip south today back to winter too!
Among a pile of election bumph, some circulars and one or two important bits of mail pushed through the door when we were away was a very welcome folder from Nether Currie Primary with their April Newsletter and a cheque for £50.00 because one of our Shed members has been been busy helping them over the school holidays. I quote the detail received “A Donation from Nether Currie Primary School to the Pentlands Men's Shed for Geoff Milne’s help in repairing and replacing three table tops and painting our shed over the Easter holidays.” Geoff thank you from the rest of us and to Marion? for delivering the news (and the cheque!). If we can have a file with the photos please I’ll get Iain to put them on our website.
I had a good few days weather wise up north and got quite a few outside jobs done before the weather turned very wet and windy culminating in snow on Wednesday and today. However that means some of the inside jobs got done too and the cottage is ready for the rest of the family to use if the progress out of lockdown continues. Things are still very cautious up north but no issues as long as you book for a meal out and behave! Traffic was ok but today coming down there was more than normal lorry traffic presumably with people stocking up both shops and building supplies judging by the lorry liveries. This combined with a lot of snow, snowploughs and fallen trees due to the weight of snow on them made for an interesting drive and we were well into Perthshire before we saw any sunshine at all. Had some nice hot soup takeaway at Ralia (inside the car!).
We went up to vote late afternoon and got caught in a spectacular hailstorm so I think I’ll reserve judgement about coming to the shed tomorrow as that’s the third time today I’ve got cold and wet!! I’ll check the forecast in the morning and maybe take the car rather than the bike if I do come!
I have not yet given a date to the contractor for starting the groundworks – I’m happy to be around for the rest of this month to be available for supervision. I’m suggesting that two of us should be around for the duration of the work but that need not be the same two. I would suggest that either Jim or Stewart or I be one person at any time and others join in as and when. If we agree that the contractor can do it as soon as possible at a time suitable to him we can then arrange a rota to cover this period when we know it. Does that sound like a plan? Bill, if I can pick up the laser level at some point I’ll check it out ready for work at the shed when the contractor comes.
It was really nice getting a phone call last Friday from John at the Shed while out in my garden up north – at least that’s where you all think I was – the joys of talking on mobile phones! No really I was there and it was good to talk. I also had a reasonably successful zoom trial with John using the mobile data link my grandson set up for me in the cottage and with a little bit of fine tuning Mary had a very successful Tai Chi session on Tuesday so that’s now installed permanently.
That’s it for tonight, I’ll probably see some of you tomorrow one way or another so I’ll say cheerio for now and thanks again to Geoff for his remote working for the shed.

Regards to all, keep safe and keep well.
