Hi
Apologies for being late tonight but I was on a zoom meeting with the Coop Community Fund Liaison Group ably supported by John and Stewart. Very interesting and they are definitely supportive of the shed and its ethos. More information on Zoom tomorrow about how we can progress things with them and I’ll fill the rest of you in with our way forward with them in the next notes.
I received an email today regarding the permission to reopen the sheds as from a projected date in April. To be honest I have not read this fully yet but it still seems to have all of the Covid restrictions we had discussed previously, at least in the first instance, so we need to keep an eye on this and also have discussion between ourselves. All SMSA members will have received this email so once you have read it let the rest of the shed know your thoughts and ideas please.
I’ve still not heard from Jim re some more names for potential contractors so will draw up a short list this weekend but before sending it out we need to discuss a possible option suggested by the coop regional coordinator of using facebook to ask for interested contractors/persons who may be able to help a charity. Two points here, do we want to have a facebook page and who would operate it?
With help from Iain the Constitution is sorted! Problem at my end was old technology trying to download from the website. Once Iain had downloaded the generic version, put in the relevant bits for our shed and gave me three options for checking I could read them all but only edit two! Presently out for Lyall and Ian to agree it as the other Trustees before I send it to the Charity Commissioners but I heard from Ian this afternoon and he’s happy with it. Lyall has a busy schedule but hopefully he’ll be able to give an ok soon too. He and Iain could not attend the Coop zoom meeting tonight as they had other zooming commitments!
I’ve still not got the information I need to make a start on the wee library but have just about completed the project for Hugh regarding his ‘community watch duties’ watch the website for further information and I’ll be in touch next week Hugh with the completed bits of kit. Just getting all the ducks in a row so to speak!
I’ve now got the small petrol rotavator working but have yet to put it to work. It did not take too long to sort out the issues, mainly neglect and old two stroke mixture gumming up the carburettor. I think the mice probably had a go at the electrics but that’s fixed too.
The forecast rain did not amount to much but was enough to show that my rainwater harvesting is working and staying in the tanks until the taps are turned on so that’s a start. Don’t really want rain so that I can get the jobs outside done but as there are inside ones to do too I suppose it should not really matter. I took the plunge this week and ordered a small shed, not the real one but I need something to be going on with if we are to have a garden at all this year.
That’s it for this week, hopefully I’ll see some of you on Zoom tomorrow, details below if you have not already got them and in the meantime stay safe and well, have a Happy and hopefully slightly more relaxed Easter Weekend but take care.
Best regards, Alister
