Hi

Hi Folks,

The constitution saga continues! Jason has been too busy zooming and Michelle can’t find anything wrong. I’ve just today sent some examples back to see what the outcome of that will be but am doing no more on it until I get an SMSA/OSCR approved one which is correct in all respects.
I’m going to meet up with John tomorrow after Zoom and help erect the cross which he and Geoff have completed and John has been putting the finishing touches to regarding staining and affixing the lettering. We were supposed to do it today but both of us felt it was too good a day to waste when we could be doing something for ourselves. I hope all of you have managed to get some soaking time in the sunshine, it makes such a difference to recharging the batteries which I’m sure Stewart will agree as even the garden takes on a new lease of life in this weather.
I managed to collect some more tools and fittings from the garage clearance I mentioned last week and have them in two boxes ready to go to the shed. There was also gardening tools and I have passed all of them on to Hugh Thomson for his Community Clear Up efforts. He came and collected them on Tuesday and hopes to join the shed in due course but is still busy with his new found retirement – aren’t we all!! Hugh gave me a request for a couple of small projects for the Community Council reporting and I’ll elaborate on that when I formulate an idea I have to carry them out. I’ve also replied to the lady whose father’s garage I got the tools from thanking her for the tools and she was delighted that two lots of local projects could make use of them. She lives up in Aberdeen and was not able to come down until the house was actively up for sale and had to be cleared so it would have all gone to the tip anyway as they only had the weekend to do it all.
The Wee Library project is on and I’ve emailed Bill via the website to see if he still has the divan wood and bookcase, I’ll do it as I’m hoping by this weekend to have my solar panels out of my workshop and on the workshop roof which will give me more space and power if the sunshine continues!
I’ve passed on some ideas for contractors to Jim to make a list of half a dozen or so but not had a response yet. I’m assuming that he’s up on his roof given the good weather doing important things and I’m not pushing him as I’m doing the same! This week I managed to do my bit of the front driveway which was to merge it in with the side walkway via a small ramp down and I managed to get the slope bricked and concreted on Tuesday and Wednesday, the angle fixed for the slabs on Thursday and today bedded in the slabs and put some of the same driveway bricks around the join to make it look professional! Amazing what good weather and an unfrozen brain allows you to do!
I’ve also started on a watering collection and distribution system for the greenhouse I have here and hopefully I can get it ready for planting up some seeds and the like soon.
I hope no-one is dismayed by the bad press the vaccine is getting in some quarters, I’m looking at this in a very positive way – if no-one in other countries wants it then there will be more for us to get our first and second doses asap and get back to as close a normal as we’re going to have for this year anyway. The dip in supplies is hopefully only that and not a bit more serious. However there is still ample opportunity for the politicians and some of the public to screw it up before we have a chance to taste some longed for freedom!,
Time to go for this week, stay safe and well and enjoy the sunshine.
Best regards, Alister
