Hi

Hi Folks,
If any of you have got around to reading the revised constitution I sent out the more observant of you (That’s at least Ian Mcpherson!) will have discovered that the contents page bears little resemblance to the numbering in the text. Ian pointed this out to me this afternoon and since then I have checked both versions which were sent to me and another SMSA email saying for the most up to date version I had to go on to the SMSA website. I eventually managed to do this and found there yet another incorrect version!. I’ve emailed Jason to ask him what’s going on and we’ll wait for an answer before I waste any more of your time and mine on this!
John and Geoff have been busy with the Easter Cross and Stewart has been out at Penicuik regarding a pool table which turns out to be a billiard table but he’s got it sorted – wonder what’s happened to the Penicuik Shed that they had to come to us? Did you ask that Stewart?
I’ve not got round to doing anything more regarding the wee library given the weather and a few more jobs around the house but I’m wondering if it is going to be worthwhile given the rapid pace that things are moving on with the success of the vaccine in suppressing spread of the virus. Ali McKillop I don’t know what you think on this because with a bit of luck libraries may open again soon or I am just being too optimistic?
I had an email from Geoff asking about a membrane and hardcore for the site clearing contract as I discussed on last Friday’s zoom and have responded to Geoff on that. Iain has set up a draft plan and updated his Gantt Chart for the prospective works – all on the website. I’ve not had any more names for contractors but will work on that this week coming with Jim, finalise the draft for quotations and send it out. Send in any ideas you have please to take this forward.
I also had an email from a person who contacted us earlier about stuff in her late father’s garage. They are finally going to clear out the house and garage and I have agreed to go round on Saturday afternoon to see if there is anything we may want. I’ll keep you updated, have no idea what may be in store but thought it better to keep numbers to a minimum given present circumstances.
It’s Zoom day again tomorrow, I’ve been all over the world this week meeting (on Zoom) all the ex Antarctic dog drivers who are still alive and well enough to appear digitally. Unfortunately only a few of us have dogs any more but the memories were good! I had not realised it but in the British Antarctiic Survey and its forerunners from the inception of dog team travel in the 1930’s to the final use of dogs in the 1990’s there were only 60 drivers so we are a dwindling bunch of old codgers.
In the meantime, stay safe and well, hopefully enjoy meeting someone else at the weekend if the weather allows.

Best regards, Alister
