Hi
Shed notes 9th June
A final reminder for the AGM on 17th June, by next Thursday I hope that you will have organised to appear in person or have given Iain via the website your apologies and suggestions/wishes for the year forward.
All relevant information is out via email to members and I stress once again that it is important for all members have an opportunity to have their say or agree to what is being done on their behalf. While attendance at the shed is not mandatory it is helpful to us when applying for funds to be able to (truthfully) say how many members we have and an email track always helps the Trustees. We do not intend to use Zoom so it will be in person with Iain collating any email responses pertinent to discussions and putting them forward for consideration.
With the AGM in mind I had a plan to make something to give to a deserving Member or two. However I almost put myself up as prime candidate for the EEjit of the Year award by thinking I knew better than the very detailed instructions. All will be revealed!!
The trees at the shed and around the scout hall have now been reduced in size and I hope the neighbours are happy with their extended views, it all looks very tidy.
A few of us joined in the party celebrations at the Hall on Monday and it was most enjoyable, especially mark McGills pies at lunchtime followed by trifle AND Meringues!!
Depending on the weather I would like to sort out some pallets for the remainder of the Currie Primary project and possibly sort out some wood for around the foot of the scout Container. Graham, if you are around tomorrow could you come over and finalise the step details at the side door and also consider a request we had on Monday to lay a slab at the foot of the steps where the emergency exit from the Hall comes onto the back grass – apparently the landing to the grass is not too clever for the Meeting Place Group if they want to come out to have tea outdoors? Neither of those tasks will be done unless and until we get your approval!
Iain has had some correspondence, copied to yourselves regarding a request to participate in a meeting in Princess Street Gardens centred on mental health and wellbeing. It is not something which the shed could do at short notice and possibly not relevant to us until we get ourselves on a more organised footing. I’m not saying we are disorganised but we are still fielding things from left right and centre, often at last minutes and we have enough to do whilst running our own lives and leaving enough time for our shed activities. Retirement is for what we want to do, not what others want us to do unless both co-incide.!! We are not a service but try to help ourselves and at the same time be a helpful part of the Community.
That’s it for this week, I hope to see some of you tomorrow, stay well and please come to the shed when it suits and if you can’t come in person for any reason but have news for all of us send Iain an email via the website and he’ll keep us all in the loop. We need to keep our members active in the shed environment whether they wish to make things or just come for the chat and, dare I say it, Banter!
Best regards
Alister
