Hi
It was great to be back at the shed last Friday and have a catch up after being away for two weeks. Progress on internal works on the shed is fantastic and we were able to collect the bench units from Keith on the Friday and the drawer/cabinet unit from Bill on Saturday. On Monday slight adjustments were made to the other bench in the shed to make it fit where we wish it to (we cut a bit off it!) and then Stewart and I started on tidying and denailing the woodpile while Rab and John carried on getting the rest of the floor ready for treating which John did on Monday afternoon. Also on the Friday Stewart and myself collected a lot of good larch planking and left it in the trailer for sorting on Monday by Stewart, Rab and I. So it was a busy weekend. The trailer is now emptied of wood and the pile of odd bits and pieces under the trees is now denailed and removed for storage/burning etc.
Again on Monday I went and put the lights and number plates on the Currie Primary Bus and there are some photos on whats app.
I had hoped to get to grips with the mig welder this week and with that in mind took it back to my own workshop along with a wheelbarrow and another barrow I got from my daughters allotment. However as things go Mary became unwell and though all the symptoms of flu or Covid plus arthritis she’s tested negative for Covid twice so I’ve been chief cook and bottle washer. To pass the rest pof the time and keep my mind occupied I managed to fit in a maintenance service at the Harlaw Turbine and found that by a bit of swapping between barrows I’ve got a working one and a pile of scrap which some of you may see tomorrow. No welding was needed so even if I had time to try it out it was not required on this project so fun or otherwise on that one for another day.
That’s it for this week, hope to see some of you tomorrow, but now I’d better do my duty and go and vote. Stay well and please come to the shed when it suits.
Best regards
Alister
