Hi (subscriber)

I will not be at the shed tomorrow or the following Friday as I left Currie this morning for a couple of weeks up north doing yet more catch up work.
Some of us had a hectic start to this week too as the shed finally managed to get a project started over two years ago closer to completion. Many thanks to Ron, Alistair, Hugh, Stewart and Jack for all their efforts in getting the main structure of the fence, the playbus and the wee library all installed at Currie Primary. There are still some bits and pieces to do but the work done involved two trailer loads of materials, all too big for putting in cars so it was good to get that done and also clears up some of the area around the scout hall. Photos are on the what’s app and if Iain puts some on the website Fiona would like to use them for an article for the C&B news. The other good news is that the wee monkeys are staying on the library, Fiona was happy with them so long as the big one was not a permanent fixture! – for those of you who are not on what’s app and will not be in on the joke I took a photo of the library with Stewart standing beside the monkeys he had carved and which we put on the sides of the bookcase but I did say that they could not have the big one! Had Bill been there I could have supplied a further photo beside the other monkey as he donated the bookcase. Thanks all for the materials, work and the banter!
John and Rab also worked on the shed flooring and the main body of it is laid. They then went on to Colinton Church to put up the last year’s cross plus two more to complete that job too in time for Easter so it has been all go. Come to think of it now I know why Jim went off to Australia, Stewart was carless (not careless!) for two days but lifts were arranged so he did not get out of the work.
I know that those who put in far too many hours this week are looking forward to a more leisurely meet on Friday. I heartily agree with that and apologise for packing so much into one week but the fact that the school was closed and I thought I had two weeks to do it in but only had one due to my miscalculations is my only excuse. I promise it will not happen again.. Indeed I would like to see the Friday morning meeting reverting back to that and use of the scout hall plus kitchen so that we can all have a catch up, discuss projects and how to do them. Once the shed is finally done (and I’m still saying not before June so that we can properly finish and stock it and allow Hugh to do a digital inventory with help from others we can schedule other days to do things there as and when thereby better serving the interests of all our members.
Having said all that I’m relaxing with a cup of tea and getting organised for a night at the fireside having a chat with one half of the family just about to finish their holiday up here.

Cheers for now, Regards to all
Alister
