Hi

A quick update for all members, on discussions held on 25 February at the Shed. For those who were there, please advise if I have got anything wrong!

The Shed building is looking good, and is close to being used "for real".

We discussed the electrical installation at length, and are delighted with the work that has been done. John demonstrated the "emergency kill buttons" and explained how to reset the system in the event of them being used. Basically, if using the "mushroom" switches, these need to be reset by turning them through 90 degrees before resetting the green button beside the consumer unit, for the sake of safety. There are also emergency lights and exterior lights, which are controlled and tested using a removable key switch, which is currently sitting on top of the emergency light beside the door.

We have a key box which will be kept inside the Shed building, and which will hold keys to the Scout Hall. No-one should take Scout Hall keys away from the Shed, and it was agreed that whoever opens the Scout Hall should also take responsibility for either locking it before leaving, or for handing that responsibility over to another member. This includes checking that the emergency door of the Scout Hall is properly locked, to prevent a recurrence of this door being left open, which happened a couple of weeks ago.

The key box will be secured, probably with a padlock, and the key to this padlock will be kept in a location (yet to be agreed) within the Shed.

Shed keys will be held by three members who live locally - probably Ali Skinner, Alastair McKenzie, and Stewart Still. If you need access to the Shed (i.e. you need a key) please make arrangements with one of them.

Finally, we agreed that I would set up a special "WhatsApp" group that would only be used for important and urgent communications. That has been done, however we still need to discuss wider communications channels so that we can be sure to keep all members informed of what is going on, whether they use email and WhatsApp or not.

We look forward to welcoming all members to the Shed now that the weather is (hopefully) improving, and will be arranging an opening celebration at some point over the next few months.
Best Regards,
