Hi
Apologies for the lateness of this missive, family discussions took priority!
Two items of importance:
The first at this level of notice may not be possible for tomorrow but in light of the continuing COVID outbreaks and the tightening up of requirements we should all take a lateral flow test before coming to shed meetings, especially if meeting inside. Obviously if one tests positive then no shed and follow the additional protocols set up by the government. Lateral flow tests are available free from any chemists are easy, if somewhat unpleasant to do and I know that some members already do this for their other meetings and child minding.
The second is that I have a draft of an excellent report for OSCR from Lyall, our treasurer and will take a copy tomorrow for comment and make a note of any items which may require change. Either Iain or myself will then take it back to Lyall for external ratification and submission. Well done Lyall keeping track of all the money machinations!. Lyall has also accepted Stewart’s pro forma for invoicing/reimbursement when doing shed projects which will hopefully be put on our website as a downloadable PDF or similar and be filled in by the person nominated to lead the project which has been agreed by the shed. No more ad hoc ones! Iain has also now managed to secure insurance for the shed but does not wish us to rush out and burn it down!
Work on the shed continues, Rhones are now nearly completed, over half of the ceiling lining has been offered up and temporarily fixed, the remainder of the insulation at the shed has now been installed in the walls. Many thanks to John, Martin, Stewart, Iain, Jim, Alistair and Keith for helping out with this. Subject to a quantity survey on Friday I would like to order and receive the remainder of the insulation and ply before everything closes down for Christmas. I don’t expect to get much more done at the shed before New Year unless there are members hoping to escape the festivities and stay free of COVID! I’m away from Friday until after Christmas, so if I were to order more materials I also need someone able to receive them and put them into the shed, along with six sheets of plasterboard for the scouts conference room. Alastair McKenzie needs to liaise with Graham regarding any stripping and clearing of the room and if possible, when the hall is not in use over the festive period help them get the plasterboard up because that would be difficult when the hall is in use. The adjustable props we are using for putting up the shed ceiling will do the job well so long as Jim does not want them back for a homer over the festive period!
Finally I’ll end for this week by reminding you all of the ongoing increase of COVID, please if you come on Friday, make sure you sign in, and if you go into the hall use the hand sanitiser provided, and wear a mask if you are moving around the area. I would hate for a potentially happier Christmas than last year to be spoilt for or by Shed Members.
Regards to all
Alister
