Hi
Another week gone by and definitely becoming more chilly in the mornings and dark in the evenings, must be the onset of winter! Thanks to all who turned out for the Co-op Presentation cheque last Saturday, details andpictures on the website.
On Monday morning I moved the Co-op christmas tree from the roundabout on Riccarton Mains Road back to where we had put it during the presentation last Saturday. On the advice of a passing workman going to collect his sandwiches I made sure this time the post was at least 600mm into the ground! It was still in place yesterday!
I had my covid booster last Sunday and hopefully it will keep me a bit safer otherwise I’ll not be happy about the sore arm I’ve had to put up with. I wasn’t much help on Monday when I went over to help Alastair and John with finishing the trees and just tidied up, stored away some excellent tools Ali Mac received for the shed and took away some old ones for the scrap. My arm is improving, swelling down and no paracetamol last night so all is heading the right way. Mind you it was my birthday yesterday so some liquid painkiller probably helped too. And no, unlike Kenny I will not be taking a cake tomorrow. (For those of you not there last Friday Kenny took small cakes made to look like, dare I say it portacabins!)
For those of you who observe the niceties of legal names be it known that we no longer have a portacabin, even if we did have a PORTAKABIN in the first place. Henceforth we have a shed so that those in Portakabin with nothing better to do than browse our website cannot complain to Iain that we are infringing their copyright/product. Iain has sorted it and mentioned to them that HOOVER may have had the same issue from time to time but we better comply. Presumably they are miffed because we did not buy one of theirs but they were not helpful despite having a depot at the end of the Edinbugh airport runway - their expensive quotes all came from Manchester excluding carriage! We had this problem in BGS many years ago and it was ruled then that we were using the name in generic terms, ( I think we actually used it in a tender asking for portacabin type containers) maybe they are looking for tips on how to refurbish?.
Talking of the shed I’ve ordered some ply and insulation plus battens to come tomorrow morning and we can hopefully get them stored in the shed. Also some drywall screws and rhone screws from Toolstation – not in stock but were delivered to me today. Before we start on the ceiling we need to determine where the water is coming in at the leaking window and get that fixed first so we’ll do a pressure sprayer test tomorrow.
John has being doing the homework on a door and has come up with a solution. We will do final measurements and select any bells and whistles tomorrow then get an order in.
Nothing else planned for tomorrow except move the christmas trees to the room in the hall to allow sales and marketing to dispose of them and collect the cash and give us room to continue refurbishment.
That’s it for this week, hope to see some of you tomorrow.
Best regards and stay safe and well
