Hi

Well the nights are fairly drawing in as they say – change of time has meant it is time to start to hibernate or at least get better light in the workshop. Enforced staying at home last week and this has helped me get more of the loft insulation done, started last February when we moved in but put off when I got the eaves done and better weather came which allowed me to do more outside things including the workshop lining and insulation. I’m reaping the benefit of that now, just have the up and over door to insulate with what’s left from the loft.. In the loft I’ve got about a third of the rafters to do with the insulated foil and then it’s all done. Also got new LED striplights in so even although it was not planned to use the loft the squirrel in me still has some things to put away for another day and that’s where they are going!
I also managed to make some christmas tree blanks and more posts for the shed because there is no way that such an inclusive project should be shut down until everyone who wants to has had a go at making/putting together and every one who wants one gets one. A Shed Community effort for the Community. - Allister collected my blanks and posts today for fettling up and getting ready to go out on Friday or whenever and hopefully this will tide us over for now. I tried various offcuts of chipboard and MDF and they all seem fine – give me some comments after you see them tomorrow and get cutting!. The posts have mainly been made from the old portacabin rafters split and repurposed which I think is very fitting for the shed. And it all makes my workshop a bit more tidy. I can supply more posts and some smaller trees as per the example I gave to Allister if we want more, or I can supply the 10 plyboards for someone else to do them
An added bonus was that after cutting one or two I realised I’d have to get my dust extraction system up and running again and this is now done with extendable hoses from the cyclone to all areas including outside. The cyclone is an old metal half height dustbin and I’ve already filled it once.
My next task tonight is to reread the insurance proposal Iain has got – first read through it’s expensive for what we get. We will need to be more observant of our working practices to comply and if COVID is classed as a communicable disease it will be some time yet before we can operate sensibly and be sure our indemnity covers us. We have not made any decision on this yet, Iain is still trying to get quotes but it is going to be expensive and although I’ve read the proposal and accompanying prospectus I have not yet read the 192 pages of ‘get out’ for want of a better description! If there are any insurance brokers our there please give Iain a hand on this one!
Hopefully John has got back from his holiday, the photos looked fantastic and I’m sure we would have heard if he was not allowed back in. Will hear all about it soon John.
I will not be at the shed tomorrow. Mary’s cataract op went well and she’s now at the stage of getting two doses of drops four times a day which I’m doing and for this week at least when antibiotics are part of the drops I’m keeping myself to the house but hopefully see you all again soon.

Best regards and stay safe and well
