Hi
Hello again, a very short note this week as I’ve been invited to a birthday party in an hours time and though it may not go on till late I’m always hopefull! Actually it’s No. 2 grandaughter who was 16 yesterday but these things have to be scheduled in to their busy schedules!
The shed roof is now all but completed, we got more than planned done last Friday having managed to get all the OSB and sheets up and fixed with afternoon help from those who managed to stay after the normal Friday meet. Another session on Saturday allowed the ridging apex to be tacked on and the gable flashings to be fixed and that was it for the weekend. The weather over the weekend indicated that the roof was waterproof and on Wednesday with the help of John, Rab and Alistair the apex was filled with foam and reset and fixed down and all the edges of the roof fixed. so I’m hoping that we are now fully wind and watertight. Some bolt coverings and rhones still do do and then the roof area will all be done.
After tomorrow’s meeting I’m having a couple of weeks away as I still have a house to make ready for winter up north. I’m hoping the painter who has had to self isolate is now back at work and will finish my work this week but I;ve not heard yet. Then I’ll get in to clean, put the furniture back and enjoy a nice wood fire complete with central heating coming from it!
Tomorrow I’m taking some osb offcuts and fixing posts to the shed to allow fabrication of mini christmas tree blanks. Allister/Hugh has the templates for them and this is something the members of the shed can do as a group with shed facilities on a Friday to meet a request and earn us some money. Most of the other projects are still awaiting access to the premises they have to be installed on and I’ve not been pushing them until we got our own shed weatherproof. Still also waiting for narrow sliding door track for the wee library and I hope to get that out of the shed in the next few weeks to give us more room to work inside. There are considerable monies payable to us on completion of these projects which will help fund the ongoing work at the shed and the insurance we can now start to put in place.
Topics for tomorrow regarding the shed are as follows:-
1. External door. AllisterMcKillop has made enquiries with Cala which may determine how we go forward but if they do not come up with anything and we go forward ourselves we need to decide tomorrow do we want it opening in or out, do we want a window in it, especially if opening in so that we don’t hit someone? And how secure does secure have to be?
2. Rhones. Stewart has done an initial costing for two full length rhones roadside one feeding into the drain already there, the ‘garden’ side feeding to the opposite end and with a rainwater barrel befor feeding into the drain at that side. Is that the way we want to go and if so we will measure up properly and get all the bits. Do we need to paint the galvanised metal flashings under the rhons before fixing?
3. Next steps on interior. I think we are agreed on 6mm plywood as a lining. I suggest we order enough for ceiling and corresponding kingspan or equivalent for same. And when should we order it and who will take delivery if it is in the next two weeks? In any event we need to measure for this tomorrow also

That’s it for now, I hope to see some of you tomorrow,
Keep well and stay safe.
Regards
Alister
