Hi
Shed Notes

Hello all, I’m back sitting outside the dentists while my wife has the last of her dental treatment done for the moment. I hope John’s went well today and that he’s able to make it to the shed tomorrow. He had managed to finish off all the inside framing earlier in the week with help from two of the Alisters and comments from the other one!
Firstly a big thank you to all of the shed from Geoff who was chuffed with his card. He was also talking about getting the racetrack to the scouts and I’ve put him in touch with Graham regarding this. Geoff has also made it clear that he wants it to come from the Men’s Shed, not him, and I said we’d sort something out when the scouts were open and ready. In the meantime I have some cars, detail and bits and pieces to give to Graham for his Scout Leaders to start preparations on the scouts making their own cars.
I have not got much farther with roof materials for our portacabin yet as two of the three contacts came back negative. I thought that I was on to a lead for second hand insulated sheeting up in Dundee but it has more or less gone, not enough left for us to cover with that and there’s no point in not being sure we can get the same material and pattern in the quantity we need buying in bits and pieces. Still working on that and one of the suppliers has come up with another suggestion for cladding and insulating as two separate ‘projects’ which I’m trying to cost out before putting it to you. It seems that there are options to cover the problems of getting materials as the days of shortages increase and people become more inventive!
Talking of shortages and being inventive I sent you a couple of whats App photos of my new shed and ‘sit outery’. I was trying to get 18mm thick osb panels for my shed walls as I already had some when I realised that we had some at the shed which Bill had acquired for us some time ago. Stewart and I pulled them out from under the portacabin yesterday and there were three full size useable sheets so I have taken them and will donate the B&Q price of £100 to the shed funds. Realistically they are too thick for much of what we do and also not the thickness we needed for anything associated with the portacabin roof even were we to go down that route. I hope this is ok, we need the money more than the sheets and it was a handy option for me as Stewart was also looking for wood for his sensory board and we used the trailer to get everything delivered. As you can see from the photo I’m practicing for the portacabin roof but you will also have spotted I have not got any sheets for my roof yet either.
It looks as though tomorrow may well be wet again. I was hoping to get help to get plywood sheets cut for the wee library which I made up a carcase for on Monday. Put them inside the Portacabin today when I placed the rainwater barrel there but hopefully it is not going to leak after redoing the tarps!
Graham is also hoping to be there tomorrow so we can discuss where to put the defib. It needs to be put to an accessible spot for use and with a bit of publicity for all in due course.
That’s it for now, hopefully I’ll see some of you tomorrow then I’m going off up north again for at least a week to progress the jobs up there.
Take care and stay safe.
