A lot of comments have been flying about regarding the BBC coming to the shed to film us. Here is an extract from the original email from Jamie Wileman, the Associate producer, that I printed in last week's notes. I've now underlined the bit about friendship and well-being and I hope this shows that we will definitely be emphasising the mental health aspect of the shed's purpose.

"...Having come across Pentlands Men's Shed, we felt your organisation could be a fantastic fit for what we're looking for and wondered whether there might be an opportunity to include the Shed as part of our programme while we are filming in the area. We're particularly interested in organisations that bring people together, foster friendship and wellbeing, and create opportunities for people to share skills, experiences and practical knowledge within their local community.
From what we've seen, Pentlands Men's Shed provides a welcoming space where members can connect, work on projects together and support one another, and we'd love to learn more about the people involved, the activities you undertake, and the positive impact the Shed has on the local area and its members.
In the meantime, a small team of us will be in the area on Friday 4th, Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th September carrying out a recce of our filming locations. If you are available, we'd love the opportunity to meet with you in person, introduce ourselves and learn a little more about the Shed and what might be possible."

He intends to be at the shed around 1145 tomorrow for about 30 minutes, and he'll be with a colleague.

PENTLANDS MEN'S SHED ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2026
It's being held in the Scout Hall on Friday, 9th October at 1100hrs. Agenda items gratefully accepted.
John and his team can update us on the work that Kerry requires to be done at the church.
Monique has come up with some interesting ideas for the next stage in their programme. She's talking about a sensory path, a coloured ribbon outdoor curtain and a balance beam using their current wooden bridge.
It's only 4 months till Christmas and organisations are starting to gear up for it already.
This year the Currie Community Centre Winter Fayre will be held on:
Sunday 29th November 2026 11am–3pm Stallholder set-up from 10am
I've already replied that the Pentlands Men's Shed would like a stall.
Stall fee: £20 The fee remains the same as last year and includes:
- 1 x 6ft table
- 1 x chair
- Refreshment tokens for up to 2 people per stall
We cannot accept any more wood donations. We simply have no room to store it, and Guy Fawkes night is not all that far away either, so we need to be mindful of that as well.
Stewart has basically finished the plaques and we'll contact Elaine to come and collect them.
Please, please, please remember to tidy up after you and put all tools back to where you got them from.
Jim has been given a deadline of October to finish the build, so that our wood can be stored there and not be visible to passers by.
That's about it for this week folks, stay safe.
