A few announcements this week seeing as I won't be there tomorrow...

Elaine Edwards from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission may visit tomorrow or Monday to ask if we can cut a bit of wood she is bringing along, on the bandsaw. I understand the job does not require a lot of skill so I said that would be OK 😀 She is their Public Engagement Coordinator.

EYEMOUTH FISHING TRIP - ARRANGEMENTS
|
The confirmed date is THURSDAY 13TH August. The boat is called the SAGITTARIUS. It leaves sharp at 0900hrs and returns 6 hours later. You will need weather-appropriate clothing (preferably waterproofs), a sun hat in case it's good weather, motion sickness pills - take them when you leave home - packed lunch if you feel like eating; a carrier bag to take all the fish you will catch home with you. There is free parking at the Fishermen's Union at the harbour entrance (I presume that's the land-side entrance). The maximum number of fishermen on the boat is 13, so please let me know if you are coming. All the fishing equipment you will need is supplied.

There's a lot of chatter about filling in the gap between the pergolas. Can I make a suggestion.... Let's leave it just now and see how we cope over the Winter. If we feel we can manage without the gap-filler, then so be it. We might even receive a grant next year to enable us to buy another Pergolux one... who knows...

One of our FEs is out of date and obsolete. Its fire rating does not comply with current legislation. The others in the portacabin are fine, but they are CO2 and are really not suitable for wood, paper or sawdust fires. We need a water or water based FE in the portacabin. As we weren't paying for the inspection, we didn't look in the steel container, but as the main contents are wood, then a water FE makes the best sense. Same goes for Floyds Folly.

Some of us will not be at the shed tomorrow, as we're cruising the Forth and Clyde canal at the Falkirk Wheel.

Well, despite Nigel's best efforts, we didn't make it to the regional finals. Never mind. I think we have a shed worthy of the title in any case!!!
