PENTLANDS MEN'S SHED ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2026
It's being held in the Scout Hall on Friday, 9th October at 1100hrs. Agenda items gratefully accepted.
It's only 4 months till Christmas and organisations are starting to gear up for it already.
This year the Currie Community Centre Winter Fayre will be held on:
Sunday 29th November 2026 11am–3pm Stallholder set-up from 10am
I've already replied that the Pentlands Men's Shed would like a stall.
Stall fee: £20 The fee remains the same as last year and includes:
- 1 x 6ft table
- 1 x chair
- Refreshment tokens for up to 2 people per stall
We therefore need to have stock to 'sell'. My wife Debbie has already made several cushions that should recoup the stall fee, so anything else we can 'sell' will go directly into our funds. Last Christmas we made around £100 so if we can get anywhere near that, we'll have done well.
She is also going to decorate some of the Christmas baubles we were given last year. I have also given some to Currie Primary School Nursery for the staff and the children to decorate (for their own use!!!).
They will be in touch with us in the next few weeks with a plan on how they want to proceed for this year. Currently they are short-staffed and unable to free up time for the projects. They are looking for additional teachers and are still keen to carry on the partnership.
We cannot accept any more wood donations. We simply have no room to store it, and Guy Fawkes night is not all that far away either, so we need to be mindful of that as well.
Elaine Edwards from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission visited us last week and gave us a couple of wreaths to modify. They're in the portable building waiting patiently...
We made £70 for Monday's scrap run. Davy is hoping to do another run tomorrow with the copper wire which should give us a bit more funds. He (hopefully) has now got a number plate for the trailer board.
The bee hotel that Stewart and Ali 2 Sheds made has been offered to Currie Primary School . Our contact there is Kerry Strange.
Those of us who have signed up to be members of the Scottish Mens Shed Association (SMSA) will have received an email asking for us to vote. Please follow the link for the SMSA to view the article. smsotyawards - Scottish Men's Sheds Association

Last Friday the shed members indulged in a fantastic fish based barbecue using the fish we caught the day before. The smoked fish was amazing!!! Well done to Lyall and Russell for keeping us all fed and watered!!!! Let's make it a regular occurrence every Summer!!!! Highlight of the day was possibly the 2 harbour seals in Eyemouth Harbour lunging up for fish offered by the crew of the Sagittarius (our fishing boat). Or maybe it was Lyall's cod or Jim's fish that managed to escape!!! Or even Davy's hat that got blown off his head and has recently been seen in the North Sea near Iceland!!!
I applied for a grant on behalf of the Shed to the Robertson Trust on the 4th June. Their application process takes up to 20 weeks, which means I don't expect a response until around the 19th October. I asked for just under £5500 for ongoing expenses, tool replacement etc.
The mud kitchen for Murrayburn PS is still unfinished as well as the painting of the school lines. I hope to work on them in the next couple of weeks...
Jim has been given a deadline of October to finish the build, so that our wood can be stored there and not be visible to passers by.
That's about it for this week folks, stay safe.
