Hi

Spent the day in the garden tidying up borders, cutting the grass and prepping hedge for cutting tomorrow afternoon. I can't believe the run of good weather we're having just now. Our wisteria is the best it's been for a good few years!!

CURRENT PROJECTS
Here's a list of what we are currently up to... I want to keep this list going every week so we don't forget what needs to be done (or should I say what we will eventually get round to!!!!)
Scout Racetrack timer grid; Litter Picking Stations - PC May is collecting 2 tomorrow. We'll have the rest ready by end of next week; Pink Bench - now finished; Shed fence - now finished; St Cuthbert's Church Sign - The church has now received the sign and John Wilson is on the case; Shed Seats and Benches Refurbishment; Shed Path; Scout Gates; Scouts Whiteboard - now finished; Bird Boxes; Decorative Wheelbarrows; Currie P S Class signs - now finished - Julie Mackay is hoping to collect them next week; Currie P S Nursery Polytunnel; Homestart kits - we need claw hammers; Currie P S Summer Fayre signposts - now finished; Christmas decorations.

OUTINGS
Shed lunch has been booked by Alex for Friday 16th May at 1 p.m That's tomorrow. He has also booked a narrow boat for a day trip along the Union Canal with the Seagull Trust, out of Ratho on the 12th September, and I understand it's fully booked already!!!

SHED TIDINESS
Once again I'm asking everyone to tidy up after they have done any work in the shed. The shipping container is in the process of being prepared for what is was acquired for- dirty work, but the modular building is meant for clean work and needs to be kept clean and tidy. The bench should be clear at the end of every shed meeting, so let's make an effort to keep it that way.

MALLENY GARDENS PLANT FAIR SATURDAY 28TH JUNE
We have been invited to attend and set up a stall to publicise what we do in the local community. This event will take place within the grounds of Malleny Garden during the time when their National Collection of 19th Century shrub roses is in full flower and fragrance. More information about the garden can be found here. While it is primarily plant focused, the organisers are keen to have local groups showcasing the wider opportunities which exist in the area. They have offered us a 3mx3m space (sufficient for a Gazebo and table) to display some of our work and the Men’s Shed organisation. The event is on from 10am till 3 pm. I am looking for volunteers to man the shed's stall. Please let me know your availability. (You don't have to be available for the whole time).

UK PIPE BAND CHAMPIONSHIPS.
THE ROYAL HIGHLAND CENTRE ON 12 JULY FOR THE RSPBA UK Pipe Band Championships. Concession tickets are £12.50. Parking is £10 per car, or you can get a tram to Ingliston Park and Ride and walk the rest. Just a thought in case any shedders were interested.

CURRIE NURSERY POLYTUNNEL
The polytunnel is 16 feet long and we will need to dig through the tarmac playground but apart from that it looks doable. I have said to my daughter Vicky that we would let her know in advance of when we were likely to start the project.

CURRIE AND BALERNO ROTARY CLUB - SHED TALK
Iain Miller has kindly volunteered to do this. Date to be announced later.

ROTARY CLUB COMMUNITY CHEST GRANT APPLICATION
I have amended the application and we are now asking for grant money to offset the cost of making the 2 metal cages that Ali Skinner made for the Scouts. And if anyone has the invoice for the stainless steel nails used to attach the larch cladding to the shipping container, can they give it to Lyall Downie asap please. I can use it for the grant application as well.

That's it for this week.

Keep safe and see you tomorrow.

Best Regards,

Rab Mason
