Hi

Evening all

BBC FILMING OPPORTUNITY
I've just spoken with Jamie Wileman, the producer of the BBC Canal Trip series who is interested in using us as part of the project.

Essentially, the two personalities are travelling along the UK's canal network and they will finish their travels at the Falkirk Wheel. During the trip they will interact with community groups and suchlike, taking part in their activities.
  • He wanted to know more about the shed so I explained its history, our membership numbers, approximate ages and what we currently do. It looks like we are a good 'fit' for the premise of the programme.
  • He wants us to involve the personalities on actually doing some physical work on stuff we are making.
  • I said we made bird boxes, bug/bee hotels, wood turning stuff and he was happy with that.
  • I also said we did a lot of 'work' for the local community, schools and charities, which he also liked.
  • I told him we normally get about 20-25 shedders on a Friday. He said that number is too many for showing on TV.
  • 2 personalities, 4-8 TV crew and a maximum of 6 shedders will be wanted.
  • We therefore need a group of maximum of 6 shedders to lead/explain/show the personalities how to make stuff. He wants footage of them helping to make the items.
  • We need to clear the patio area of the seats so that shedders and TV camera crew have room to move about.
  • He is coming to the Shed on this Friday, 4th September for a recce visit only, but cannot guarantee the actual time window; therefore we need to be flexible with him. It's very possible he'll arrive outwith our opening times. So we'll need people on hand to show him round.
  • He did not allude as to whom the personalities are.
  • Filming will take place between 29th September and 1st October.
Best Regards,
