ST CUTHBERT'S CHURCH AND NINE LESSONS
I mentioned this at coffee time on Monday. Maybe someone could volunteer?? but it's not mandatory.
As the Pentland Men's Shed is a big part of our church life now, I wondered if anyone from The Shed would like to read at our service of NIne Lessons on December 21st at 5pm. I like to invite members of the community to take part and you are certainly part of our community now. Many thanks. Nicki Revd Nicki McNelly Rector St. Cuthbert's Scottish Episcopal Church Colinton

I have attached an image of the menu for those of you who have still to decide. See bottom of message.

After my serious cock-up of mixing dates of the Balerno Farmers Market, we are definitely booked for the Currie Community Centre Fayre on Sunday 30th November. We'll need volunteers to man the stall, and WE ALSO NEED TO DECIDE HOW MUCH TO SELL THE MERCHANDISE FOR!!!

BALERNO SCHOOL "PARTNERSHIP"
We had a successful meeting at the school with the teachers and students. They are creating a plan now that we will use to progress the ground clearance and project work, assisted by the students. They all seem very keen to improve the spaces, so we'll help as much as we can. A teacher will always be present when we are there, so there's no requirement for disclosure. I expect them to be in touch in the next week or two.
The Scouts have now approached us for monetary assistance, as we had promised, so Lyall will be dusting off the moths and giving them some dosh!!!💰
Ali Skinner will be fixing the locks imminently.
The new CCTV camera is now working and it shows the view westwards along Currievale Drive. We need to lop some branches off the conifer at the gate so we can get an unobstructed view.

This landmark plan sets out to tackle the physical and mental health challenges faced by men and boys, invest in suicide prevention, and reduce long-standing inequalities. A hugely positive step.
We warmly welcome this development and hope to see Scotland follow suit with a dedicated strategy of our own. Together with our men’s health partners and research bodies like Glasgow Caledonian University, we’ll ensure this is raised with the Scottish Government – because men and boys across Scotland deserve the chance to live longer, healthier lives with access to tailored healthcare and support.
For the past 10 years, the SMSA has consistently highlighted these health inequalities with the Scottish Government. While their investment in a Scottish Women’s Health Champion rightly recognised that different genders have distinct support needs, men’s health remains under-supported. The recent Scottish Parliament SPICe briefing on men’s mental health underscores this urgent need, highlighting gaps in services and the investment required to address them.
The SMSA, as Scotland’s leading men’s health and wellbeing charity, again calls upon The Scottish Government to look at the plight we find ourselves in with no men and boys health policy nor the required investment, as experienced in other countries through the Men’s Sheds Movement, creating the self-empowered opportunities of wellbeing for men.
