Hi

Evening all,

STEWART STILL
He is making progress, albeit slowly. A couple of shedders have been to see him already this week and the news is fairly positive. He is up and about, but won't be allowed home until the wound in his leg is closing up properly. He gets tired easily. But he is now happy for a maximum of 2 visitors (probably so he can receive twice as many food parcels 📦). He had a small procedure on his chest wound on Monday afternoon which seems to have gone well.

PALLETS AND KINDLING
Brecks men delivered a lorry load of pallets on Monday morning so we now have a reasonable stock to convert into kindling. When filling the kindling bags, please fill to full capacity as the wood dries out and loses weight during storage. We have had to reject some bags because they were underweight.

ST CUTHBERTS CHURCH NATIVITY SCENE
John, Jan and I were at the church this morning and erected the nativity scene. Well, it was mainly John, we just supervised!!!! Above is a picture of it in front of John's shiny new Skoda.(Witty captions for the photo appreciated).

CHRISTMAS LUNCH
If you haven't already signed up for the lunch at the Riccarton Inn, you'd better do so quickly, because it'll soon be here!!!! It's on Friday the 13th. Alex Cox is our man for that.

SCOTT LAWRENCE FROM SKANSKA UK LTD
Scott phoned me the other day, and apologised for not getting to the shed more often than he would have liked. He has been rammed with work. Things are now not so hectic and I have arranged for him to visit us on Friday December 13th (he knows it's our Christmas lunch day). He's keen to get his men to do some volunteer work. (they are also keen to help us), and John has suggested the St Cuthbert's Church Notice Board revamp for starters. So any other work we need help with, let me know and we'll ask for help from Scott.

HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY
We don't have a policy in place, and the trustees think it is a prudent thing to have in case we do have an accident, seeing as we are a bunch of old gits!!!! The insurance policy may not cover us unless we have one. It is a work in progress and we will let you know when it is ready. One thing that is certain, is that every member who attends the shed will have to sign a statement saying they have read, understood and agreed to its content.

SHED INSURANCE
Iain has agreed terms with our new insurers and the insurance policy will start on December 2nd.

CURRIE COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS FAYRE
The Fayre is on Sunday from 12 till 4. I will be able to attend until 2pm approx (I am going to see Cinderella with the grand-kidsk in the late afternoon). Other shedders are bringing items to sell, our flags and money machine (SUMUP). There was a suggestion just to take along a couple of bags of kindling, but as the forecast is showing near freezing temperatures for most of next week it might be an opportunity to sell more kindling. I can keep some bags in the back of my car to save space at the table and just put a couple on show.

I won't make it to the shed tomorrow as our plumber is coming to finally fix the heating system.

Keep warm in the meantime

Best Regards,

Rab Mason
