Hi

Graham 'Chalky' White from the Scouts sent me the request below yesterday.

I think we all need to meet to discuss the way forward, then have a EGM to ratify/formalise any decisions we have made.
20% of 24K is £4800 (so round up to £5k). That's the figure Graham is basically talking about I think. The figure includes installation. There are other users as well as us who he has no doubt asked the same request...
Have a think about it and message/email me your views. We'll then set up a meeting to discuss.

Wondering if men’s shed would consider helping us.
We have been slowly making improvements to the hall. The latest has been the installation of the heat pump.
This appears to have been worthwhile as we have seen a decrease in our electric bill.
We have also already replaced all the light fittings in the hall to LED, this reducing our energy use again .
As you can appreciate energy costs are a big issue for us.
To help try and improve our energy use even more and do our bit for the environment we are going ahead with the installation of a solar array .
We envisage this to be 28.3kW and is made up of 44 panels each 645w. To be sited on the roof. This system will have a battery capacity of 26.8kW . This will give us flexibility when coupled with a suitable tariff to produce and store and sell electricity.
The down side to all this is the capital cost. This is approximately £24K for the afore mentioned equipment and instal.
There is however, good news , we have secured grant funding of 80%.
We envisage some other costs such as DNO G99 which is approval for us to install to generate. There may also be some battery storage required.
As you know we try our best to help others in the community and keep our hall rental costs to a minimum.
We have decided to ask our main users if there is any possibility of helping us with the costs of the installation not covered by the grant.
We understand this is a big ask and do not do it lightly .
The scout group is a charity and we are lucky to have an income from hall rental. But this is also needed to help run the group.
Would it be possible to discuss with your members and gauge feeling on this request.
Please don’t worry if you feel you cannot help , as we know you also have costs in running your group too.
Thanks for your consideration.
Graham and the trustee board.
Best Regards,
