I won't be at the Shed tomorrow as we are going to the Game Fair at Scone Palace.
|
A few announcements this week seeing as I won't be there tomorrow...
|
- Elaine Edwards from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission may visit tomorrow or Monday to ask if we can cut a bit of wood she is bringing along, on the bandsaw. I understand the job does not require a lot of skill so I said that would be OK 😀 She is their Public Engagement Coordinator.
- I've reduced the baseball cap order to 20, with the green Shed logo on a grey cap to match the sweatshirts.
- A Carer called Michelle Mclean contacted the shed via email asking if we had suitable facilities for a young male who is registered blind and has learning difficulties. I replied that we did not, but hoped she was successful in placing him in an appropriate setting.
- Nigel, our secretary has been in correspondence with the SMSA Development Officer Brian McWilliam, asking him to assist Balerno Community Council in setting up a Shed. We have made it quite clear that we won't be running a shed in Balerno, but would be happy to offer advice. The SMSA are emailing BCC an online toolkit for establishing a shed.
- Alex Hogg has left us a couple of fence posts and other bits and bobs for us. He will also drop off a 6x6 fence panel and some electrical fittings which may be of use to us. Dates and times to be confirmed.
- Alan Paterson from Dalkeith contacted us via email saying he was selling his late brother-in-law's house in Forthview Avenue and would we like some wood and screws. I politely declined, as we have no room at the moment.
- However, Martine Milne may pop along tomorrow or next Friday. She has her late father's workbench and tools she would like to give us.
- I have contacted Ian Crook, the guy who gave us all the offcuts from which we made the bee hotels, to see if he has any more he can give us...
- I've printed more Attendance Sheets and they are in the blue folder.
- There's also a couple of pictures of mud kitchens that we have previously made for local schools, to give us ideas for the Murrayburn one.
Stewart and his team of workers is soldiering on with these.... needs to choose castors to fit on to them. But Stewart may not be along tomorrow as he is suffering from a sore back. I'd rather he got better first, then took the Mickey out of us when he's better😝

The first bee hotel was collected by Mr Michie. I have promised my daughter she can have the other one for Currie Primary School Nursery. The Facebook article generated a lot of interest from the local community so they are something we might want to consider making (smaller versions for domestic gardens) to generate funds.
|
