Just to let everyone know we were really successful at both the Currie and Balerno fairs. In total we made just over £850. Thanks to all the shedders who contributed and gave up their time. Without you we would have had nothing. It's much appreciated.

Further to Monday's request for volunteers, Nigel has contacted the school and received more info. Nothing out of the ordinary, just some form filling to do.

Therefore I need a list of volunteers' email addresses.

Scott Lawrence phoned me this morning and confirmed that he has done a deal with a local supplier to provide FREE sweatshirts and Hi-Vis vests for the shed. The numbers are 25 of each. In the New Year he'll be in contact again to finalise the arrangement, so in the meantime I need to know the names of those individuals who want a sweatshirt. Bear in mind they are for wearing where we are in contact with the public, working away from the shed at say, nurseries, schools or attending sales events. They are NOT for wearing at our weekly meetings, so I only want names from those shedders willing to do 'work' away from the shed. I also want to finalise the colour of the sweatshirts and the colour of our logo. I have taken the liberty of adding him to our email distribution list for the weekly Shed Notes, seeing as Skanska UK are a major provider of shed materials.

PENTLANDS COMMUNITY CHEST GRANT

We received £600 in grant funding. I was tasked with obtaining some PPE so I have bought some gear from the TOOLBOX, 177 DALRY ROAD, EDINBURGH EH11 2EB. The sad news is Colin Shanks, the owner, is closing down on the 31st of December, after 18 years of trading. So if you want to get a bargain from any of the limited stock he has left, please go there asap. Most of his stock has gone, but you might find something useful there. CASH ONLY

Shedders are encouraged to go online to Youtube and view the HOW-TO videos for the above push stick that I bought to prevent you from losing fingers and hands when using the table saw, band saw etc. If you don't have YouTube, here's a direct weblink microjig.com/worksafer. The SMSA is looking for feedback: there seems to have been a mixed bag of open day results with it being held in November. I would like a consensus of what we, as a shed would want, before replying. Men's Health Week 2026 runs from 8th to 14th June, so that might be a more appropriate time for example. Let me know your thoughts.
