Hi

Evening all.

SHEDDERS' REGIONAL MEETING AT LIVINGSTON FRIDAY 26TH JULY
The SMSA was represented by Tim Green. Shedders from South Queensferry, Pentlands, Armadale and Livingston were there. It was more of a get together than anything else. Each shed gave an outline of what they were currently involved in, their relationships with the local community, prospective donors etc. and Tim was promoting the Shed of the Year Awards and their 10th anniversary. We had a look round the Livingston shed, but they will shortly have to move out because the community centre is being closed by the council. A rep from Axminster Tools Newcastle shop was also in attendance and outlined the discounts available to sheds if they were buying kit. They don't do certified training but would be able to familiarise buyers with their bought equipment. There was nothing of note to report back, unless Iain can think of something I've forgotten. I did mention in passing the low standard of wood used in the Library bench, but they didn't rise to the bait!!

SCOUTS' WORK REQUIREMENTS
The Scouts have asked us to take a shaving off the bottom of the main hall entry doors. One of them is rubbing on the floor and it won't be long before it rips the surface. This needs done sooner rather than later.
Another request is to replace some of the self tapping screws on their outside container. It looks like the heat of summer ☀️and subsequent cooling 💨 has made the plastic sheets expand and contract, loosening the screws. They suggested we perhaps shave a millimetre or two off the edges so that each sheet can move without warping. I'm no expert and I'm open to suggestions.
They would also like a cage built around their air conditioning unit situated out at the hall back door. It could be vulnerable to the unwanted guests who seem to be making a nuisance of themselves these past few weeks.

RECENT INTRUDERS
Lyall has been in contact with the police and I can report the following. Most if not all have beed identified from images and CCTV.The police are now doing home visits and issuing Anti-Behaviour Orders VPD. The interim Vulnerable Persons Database (VPD) is an incident based database that allows officers from Police Scotland to record concerns that may be a risk to a person's current or future wellbeing. Concerns can be recorded under the following categories: Child Concerns (including Child Protection) Domestic Abuse.

OTHER PROJECTS
We currently 'stowed out with work' so let's not take on any more projects until we get our shed and the workshop/wood store up and running.

I apologise for not getting the shed notes out on Thursday evening, but I had been busy all day buying a new car and learning about all the software and systems that come with it. I think it has more computing power than the Moon Lander!!!

Keep well.
Best Regards,

Rab Mason
