Jim Floyd and I survived the Stewart Still Routing Show yesterday. Crikey, can that man TALK!!! He even said he had prepared notes!! And NO, nobody fell asleep during this most interesting and engaging hour of our lives that we will never get back😀😂. But I now have a new respect for Stewart, especially the work he continues to do in such a small workshop.
BTW, Stewart is looking for a couple of oblong shaped flower pots to fit into a steam train planter he is building.

Here's a list of what we are currently up to... I want to keep this list going every week so we don't forget what needs to be done (or should I say what we will eventually get round to!!!!)

CURRIE PRIMARY SCHOOL CLASS SIGNS

Julie Mackay and four of the pupils involved in the design of the project duly collected the signs on Monday morning. We did take some photos, but we can't show you them until we get permission from the pupils' parents.

SCOTT LAWRENCE - SKANSKA-UK - BBQ
Scott phoned me yesterday and said that the St Cuthbert's Church sign was nearly ready, apart from painting. We're having our BBQ next month.... what about inviting him and the sign fabricators???? They have been really kind to us and seem keen to carry on the relationship.
The shed is holding its next BBQ on Friday 27th June at 1200ish.
Once again I'm asking everyone to tidy up after they have done any work in the shed. The shipping container has now been prepared for what is was acquired for- dirty work, but the modular building is meant for clean work and needs to be kept clean and tidy. The bench should be clear at the end of every shed meeting, so let's make an effort to keep it that way.

MALLENY GARDENS PLANT FAIR SATURDAY 28TH JUNE
We have been invited to attend and set up a stall to publicise what we do in the local community. This event will take place within the grounds of Malleny Garden during the time when their National Collection of 19th Century shrub roses is in full flower and fragrance. More information about the garden can be found here. While it is primarily plant focused, the organisers are keen to have local groups showcasing the wider opportunities which exist in the area. They have offered us a 3mx3m space (sufficient for a Gazebo and table) to display some of our work and the Men’s Shed organisation. The event is on from 10am till 3 pm. I am looking for volunteers to man the shed's stall. Please let me know your availability. (You don't have to be available for the whole time).
I think we should start a new round of shedders' photos so we can all put names to faces once again. The membership has changed somewhat in the last two or three years and it would be nice to have a 'rogues gallery' pinned up in the shed so we all know who's who. What do you think??🤔

REQUESTS FROM THE LOCAL COMMUNITY
We are receiving requests on a regular basis from local organisations to do 'work' and we are having to turn them down; not because we can't do it, but usually because they come with a time limit. Requests along the lines of ..."we have a show/fete/fair coming up in a month - can you make us [fill in the blanks]???" We are turning them down because the prime purpose of the Shed is to promote good mental health and well-being for our shedders, and having the additional stress of time constraints on any project is a definite 'no-no'. I hope you all agree with this.
